If you are handy with a soldering iron there's an easy fix. Buy a 6v @ 800ma adaptor and a 5 volt regulator... This little three pin device will hold the 6v at a regulated 5v independent of load... Could post it on a web site, say at Tripod or Geocities and submit it to Rick. You might want to go a little over 800 mA so it can be used on other units, also the 5 volt regular will draw a little, but not much. A 4.5 volt adapter will RUN the 702 fine, but will not charge it. MD: Sharp Frustration!
Dear Mders, I've recently had a bad experience with my Sharp 702 MD. The AC Adaptor burnt out on me. I said, no problem go to the local electronics store, spend 12 dollars and get another. Since then I have searched all over NYC and all over the US via the internet and no one carries a 5v/800ma AC adaptor. They have every voltage EXCEPT the one I need. I called Sharp and they sent me to their distributor who sells the thing for $50 plus s/h. A real rip-off. I am SO irritated about this because these things sell for $12 for every other voltage. I spoke to someone at one of the Minidisc companies...and he told me off the record that a 4.5 voltage adaptor will work just fine. Know anything about this? Any other suggestions? Thanks very much! -todd a - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: MD: Sharp Frustration!
Todd I sent you a priivate E-Mail-maybe you didn't get it. My Sharp 702 was run over after it fell out of my pocket a couple of years ago while I was running. I saved the AC Adaptor for whatever reason, I just pulled it out after reading your post. It is the original AC Adaptor that is quite different looking from the Sony's and most others. You can have it for $25 including shipping. E-Mail me if you're interested. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I use a 4.5V charger with my MT-821 (bought it in Japan, Australia uses 240V). Works fine. The difference is that while the 5V one will charge while the MD is playing, at 4.5V it won't. It charges when switched off though. The reason they have to support 4.5V is that it's easily stepped down to from 12V as used in cars. Read the spec sheet of your MD to see if it supports 4.5V. They seem to accept more than one voltage. --- Rev Simon Rumble The Roman Rule: [EMAIL PROTECTED] The one who says it cannot be done should never http://www.rumble.net interrupt the one who is doing it. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
