RE: MD: Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones
I also bought the phones in Japan and mine fit fine. -Original Message- From: LaPedis, Ron [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, August 31, 1999 11:51 AM Subject:RE: MD: Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones I have a pair of the over-the-head model that I bought in Japan before they were available in the USA. They work really well if I hold the pads against my ears in the proper way, but if I don't they don't really fit right, It's like they were designed for ears with a much different configuration (hard to explain, but the it's like the pads swivel the wrong way from the way my ears face. Maybe Japanese ears are shaped much differently than Caucasian ears???)After a long period of time (4 hours), the outer part of my ear starts to hurt from the pads trying to press them against my face. I've been very happy with my MDR-NC10s since I bought them a couple of years ago. You should note that SONY makes three models of NC phones; in-the-ear (NC10s), on-the-ear, and over-the-earlike the great big AKG circumaural headsets I once used in studio sessions. The NC10s fit snuggly in the ear and in so doing achieve decent noise reduction even when turned off! Turning on the active NR system I hear a white noise "hush" which I personally find to be soothing. I should also note that the diaphram size in the NC10s is larger than in your typical earbud. This combined with tight accoustic coupling to the ear canal make them one of the best headphones I've ever heard. Great low end but very natural. Do they REALLY work? Any impressions? Are they worth their price? Thanks in advance!
