Actually, if you look at their faq you'll find this: Does the AN1 or DG1 work on a Mac Issue: Can I use an AN1 or DG1 on a Mac and will all the features be supported. Fix: We do not currently support Mac computers because the USB audio on Mac has yet to be completely standardized. Both the AN1 and DG1 will work on Mac systems running OS 9.0.4 with Apple Audio Extension1.0.5. The AN1 will operate as described on this website. The DG1 auto trackmarking feature is defeated on Macs, because Mac media players tend to spool all the audio tracks and play them as one continuous stream. This ensures that the audio quality through the USB port is great, but defeats the track marking feature. It is possible that with the correct media player, the auto track marking feature will work fine - as long as the tracks are played individually and not spooled. At this stage, the included MusicMatch software is a PC only version. I am, like yourself, a mac user... /M From: Markus Laurin [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: 04 Feb 2001 13:09:24 +0100 Subject: Re: MD: USB to MD mne:Tid:13.08 MEDDELANDE Re: USB to MD Datum: 1-02-04 Check out this nifty little gadget from Xitel. Looks good to me, but is there a way to go from MD to Computer with it? Markus Laurin wrote: mne:Tid:13.08 MEDDELANDE Re: USB to MD Datum: 1-02-04 Check out this nifty little gadget from Xitel. What this device essentially does is it transfers the mp3 signal from my powerbook's USB port and convert it to an optical signal (I believe he said it was called "S/PDIF" format) that my Sony minidisc deck can accept. Has anyone tried this? If so, were there any problems? As I mentioned before, my laptop is a Mac G3 Powerbook with USB outputs, OS 9.1 and my Sony minidisc deck is the MDS-JE510 model. MD: USB and MD
I was asked the following question and since I don't have USB port, I thought I'd ask the group. I told him to use the sound card Line In and the MD Line out, but he didn't say what MD he had. I've got a sony walkman MD and it came with a USB cable, PC link that connects the USB cable and a stereo mini audio cable that plugs into the MD player. I can record music from my Hard Drive to the MD with out any problem, but I can't seem to go the other way. I've tried to use the Media rack to receive input from the MD but that doesn't work. I have Magix music studio Generation 5 for editing ect. but it is of no use in importing the audio directly from the MD. I figure that I should be able to import audio from the USB port but I can't figure out how. If you have any ideas I would be very greatful. -- Jim Coon Not just another pretty mandolin picker. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] If Gibson made cars, would they sound so sweet? === = NB: Over 50% of this message is QUOTED, please = = be more selective when quoting text = === No, you cannot input the sound into the USB port. The adapter uses a digital to analog converter (DAC) for going from the usb - audio cable, but I'm guessing it doesnt have an Analog to Digital converter (ADC) for going from the audio cable- usb. I believe it was only set up for use going from USB to miniplug cable, both the actual device and the software. Paul Kerl "J.
