I'm not certain, but I think you play to the point you want to over
write, hit pause and the hit record. Anoter way that might be even
better is to play to the ppoint you want to recod from and insert a
track mark. check that it is in the correct place and then recodr you
new material and move it to that track mark, and combine the two
tracks.

Speaking from experience with using a JE520 that I sometimes borrow, to do a
"record overwrite", you select the track which you want to overwrite using
the AMS knob, place the unit in PLAY-PAUSE mode then press RECORD.

The top line will display "Overwrite" when you press RECORD and the timing
display will show the track number, with a flashing "Tr" as well as the
elapsed or remaining time on the disc.

When you press PLAY to start recording, you then are overwriting the rest of
the disc.

The JE530 would use the same procedure for this practice, since it is based
on the JE520.

What is the interest of overwriting?

Thanks Simon, I'll try ASAP.

I can answer that I'm trying to use the famous cheat for prolonging the time
of a 74 minutes MD into a 80 minutes one. :-)

Got me. I always figured it was safer to keep the old material, record
the new material and then at my leasure cut, edit , move , combine etc.
