Kemang Raya no. 8B Jakarta Selatan 021- 7199 283 Tempat terbatas, untuk konfirmasi mohon menghubungi Dian di nomor 021-7199 283 -Amol Titus will share literary insights from his critically acclaimed book Darkness at Bamiyan that was presented at the 2006 Ubud Writers Festival. The book, written in the form of an epic length poetic dialogue between the famous Buddhist statues of Bamiyan Afghanistan (destroyed in March 2001) explores certain facets of the human condition such as uncertainty, materialism, ritualism, dogma, guilt, anger and separation. It is a tale of companionship, communication, hope, despair and eventually tragedy. Reviewing the work, Trisha Sertori of The Jakarta Post (Destruction births resurrection dated 29 October 2006) has written epic poetry is one of the foundations of great literature worldwide. It is a very difficult genre demanding great focus and surety of touch, skill possessed by Amol Titus. Another reader, a senior journalist William Powell from Cambridge in England, has remarked you may in some sense have saved them for posteritu just as Percy Bysshe Shelley did with the great Theban monolith he called Ozymandias. Bamiyan has a prophetic Milton-like quality which is very welcome in todays age. Forming an evocative backdrop to the event will be a series of black and white ink sketches that were prepared by the author. He regards sketching as a complementary art form that allows him to communicate through another dimension. The sketches, not for commercial sale, are only occasionally displayed as backdrops to his readings/ festival participations and this is a rare opportunity to view the collection that will be displayed in the bookstore from December . Indian born Amol Titus has a formal degree in English Literature from St. Stephens College, Delhi, and he is a past recipient of the Jawaharlal Nehru scholarship for post graduate studies. Apart from Darkness at Bamiyan his other works include A Summit at Jungfraujoch and Modern Traumas. He is currently finalaing a novel set in Sri Lanka and a collection of poetry on Indonesia and India. He is also a columnist for The Jakarta Post and Tempo. Get Your Membership Now!! Screening Info You can see the screening event: * by date * by theatre * by movie Memberships MEMBERSHIP Like last years JiFFest, the same membership system applies. It enables festival screenings to be legally classified as non-commercial screenings, and more importantly, audiences can easily secure seats to see films of their choice. No admission tickets are sold. Instead, viewers purchase membership cards and receive free passes for festival screenings. HOW TO WATCH FILMS AT JIFFEST JiFFest audiences can choose from 4 types of membership: * GOLD CARD, Membership fee: Rp 150,000 - includes passes to 10 different JiFFest screenings. * SILVER CARD, Membership fee: Rp 85,000 - includes passes to 5 different JiFFest screenings. * WHITE CARD, Membership fee: Rp 40,000 includes passes to 2 different JiFFest screenings. The above membership cards must be obtained at least one day before the desired screening. The advantage with the abovementioned cards is that members have a better chance of obtaining tickets for the films they want to see. * DAILY CARD, membership fee Rp 25.000, includes a pass for 1 screening membership fee Rp 45.000, includes passes for 2 screenings membership fee Rp 65.000, includes passes for 3 screenings The Daily Card can only be obtained during the festival period (December 8-17, 2006) on the screening day of the preferred film(s). Undangan Stefanus Aldo Santoso; POSTER EXHIBITION 1 21 November- 21 December 06 starting 10am to 10pm Opening Selasa, 21 November 2006 @ 7pm Music by Aghi Narottama DJ Reinhold -untuk umum, gratis- --- Aldo mulai mengerjakan silk-screen print sembilan bulan yang lalu saat belajar desain grafis di Art Institut of Seattle. Desainnya pernah kali dipakai oleh VERA project, Seattle untuk event musiknya. Saat ini Aldo mengerjakan karyanya dengan manual printing dan digial photo collage. Karya-karya Aldo yang dipamerkan di Art Institut of Seattle menarik perhatian banyak pihak termasuk Blue Bottle Art Gallery, Seattle yang kemudian menjual poster-poster karya Aldo. Atas tawaran pemilik Blue Bottle karya-karya Aldo juga sempat dipamerkan dan dijual di Seattle Art and Music Festival, Bumbershoot pada bulan September 2006. Pada event ini penjualan posternya mencapai rekor tertinggi. Desain-desain yang dikerjakannya pada medium kertas dan kanvas sering dikategorikan dalam Casual Art. Debut yang mengawali karirnya sebagai independen artist adalah sebuah proyek sekuensial yang diberi judul ABOUT.
