 Thanks for replying.

I simply don't understand why all these workarounds are needed.

Why the behavior can't be same as a device build, where the user don't
export any env variable or don't install any additional package.

danny: We should not invoke a VKB as a widget scim-panel-vkb-gtk
directly. It must be launched when a text entry gets focus.
scim-panel-vkb-gtk is not there in my netbook runtime.

meego-im-uiserver is not running in my system and

ps -eaf | grep mthemedaemon out puts :

 meego 352 237 0 05:13 ?00:00:00 /usr/bin/mthemedaemon

 Hi,
I am trying to invoke VKB in Netbook UX (MeeGo 1.2), but not able to see.

On MeeGo 1.1 Handset UX i was doing exporting some DBus related variable
 and
was able to invoke the VKB.

Can some share the info for 1.2 Netbook UX.

You should install them first if these related packages are not included in
your OS.

Try to use 'sudo zypper install ...' or 'sudo yum install ...'.

[MeeGo-dev] about uxlaunch support a command line option with enable/disable xsession-errors feature

2011-05-30 Thread steven
Hi all,

currently when uxlauncher start a new user session, it will redirect
stderr/stdout to file xsession-errors, and all x client will write their
log messages to this file, and this file will get too big in one
power-up cycle, so does here have any plan to support a command line
option to support redirecting xclient messages to /dev/null?

Thanks

Steven Liu

I think first should check where and why so huge errors coming from

Finding the reason is more important that workaround something.
One trick method can be as that ln -s /dev/null ~/.xsession-errors

there isn't something wrong, just I installed a bad written package, and
it output too many debug messages which make the xsession-errors to
reach that limit. so comes out the question above.

but now I agree with Kok not adding this feature to uxlaunch.
see kok's comments.

I think we very well could (at least in the meego-ux...) support live
backgrounds. We'd need to start using some abstract qml Item component
for the background and have it pluggable so you could install some live
background package to replace the default.
--why using a special qml item? and you want to put it in UX-Daemon?

I would prefer to put wallpaper to a isolated daemon (can be called
wallpaper service)and make wallpaper pluggable so app developers can
create static/dynamic wallpaper plugin.

Anyone can sumbit a feature request on bugs.meego.com for things like

  Hi,

as for NTP, I remember that timed middleware also support NTP, and
 this

 want

 compliance.

timed is not part of compliance! It's on it's way out, at least the
 exact usage of it is.
did you mean meego will remove timed package in the near future?
