Sometimes the Lenovo wifi card gets into a state where the rfkill cannot be used to unblock the card. If this is the case, you need to reset the BIOS to Setup Default State. At least on S10-3t it fixed the wifi detection problem. Check this thread: http://forum.meego.com/showthread.php?t=2011page=2 Just tried to clear the BIOS from the GUI: This worked for me: At startup - press F2 to go into the BIOS When in the BIOS: press F9 to apply the setup defaults press F10 to save and exit Hope that this can help. Re: [MeeGo-dev] File manager for Tablet Edition
Hello Florent To come back at the subject of the need of a file browser, lets suppose that you had a trip in a foreign country with friends and that now you want to show them all that you have from the trip. Will you prefer to have one folder with all the videos, photos, pdf scan of documents or to open the photo viewer to show them the photos, then go to the video player to browse the videos then to the pdf viewer to browse the pdfs, then to go back in all those applications to export to an usb key or import these data? By the other hand there is an averange joe that just want to see a popup with a message import all files when they plug a pen-drive. And this import send the files to the correct program where it will be used (pdf to viewrs, ebook to ereader, photos to gthumb, etc). Re: [MeeGo-dev] File manager for Tablet Edition
I think that would be an example of what Steve Jobs would call 'lack of focus'. The failure to say 'no' when it makes sense. I also think the fact that iOS have just dropped letting the users see the file system without coming up with a compelling alternative like KDE Nepomuk Activities or something similar with Tracker is one of their biggest competive weaknesses. We should consider that they design their own device and they have focus on 3 devices only (1 tablet, 1 cellphone and 1 computer). The MeeGo community have to focus on a large variety of devices and users, that's the biggest difference. But the answer to the problems and behavior of users will not be the same, so we need to focus. A file browser could be an optional app enabled on the configuration, so instead of having just the option to import, adding a new option to open in a file browser. -- Richard ___ MeeGo-dev mailing list MeeGo-dev@meego.com http://lists.meego.com/listinfo/meego-dev http://wiki.meego.com/Mailing_list_guidelines -- Leonardo Luiz Padovani da Mata International Syst S/A Metasys Tecnologia Software Engineer Metasys MeeGo Team leonar...@metasys.com.br +55-31-3503-9040 May the force be with you, always Nerd Pride... eu tenho. Hey Bogdan, consider adding the script call on /etc/rc.local. As i remember, the default runlevel for MeeGo is 3, not 5, so adding it to rc3.d might work also. On our sollution the package containing the daemon creates a .desktop on /etc/xdg/autostart with the commands that you wish to run on openning the UX, but this is just a workaround since we don't want to change the scripts. [MeeGo-dev] Initrd on Kernel to mount root with UUID
Hello folks, how are you? I'm facing an interesting problem and i think that the solution is simple, but i'd like to discuss it on the list. The MeeGo kernel doesn't use an initrd, to make it faster on boot, i guess. The problem i'm facing is that when i install the system on a netbook with a usb disk the order of the disks change and i have problems booting after the installation. If i change the boot loader information and plug a pen-drive at boot time, the order change again. Using UUID of disks solve the problem, but without a initrd on the kernel the system cannot boot, since UUID mounting is available only with initrd. (also LABEL mounting) We use a custom kernel here and we use grub boot loader, but this problem may happened on other boot loaders. There is one solution to use GUID without initrd: http://www.linux-archive.org/gentoo-user/481167-mounting-root-partition-uuid-no-initrd-needed.html I'd like to know if someone else have the same problem and discuss what is the best solution. Re: [MeeGo-dev] [MeeGo-community] GSOC 2011: Idea
On Thu, Mar 17, 2011 at 9:49 AM, Daniele Maio daniele.m...@gmail.com wrote: Hello, I've an idea for the Google Summer of Code 2011, and I wuold like to discuss it here before updating the wiki. My idea is to create an application to monitoring traffic on streets/routes. With this application everyone with a device (smartphone/laptop/whatever) with a gps can trace some route. While tracking, in addition to the coordinates also the istant speed and a timestamp will be registered. This application would have a daemon that does this job (tracking), a simple UI that show a map (using google maps api) through which you can search for a street (or a route) and it will give you information about the average speed (also filtered by time). One more thing is the necessity to have a 'server' where the registered data have to be sended. This data has to be stored in a database, and the server has to be capable of doing operation for calculating the average speed and filtering results. You can also consider this application as a 'social application' : everyone everywhere can help tracking any street/route. I would like to do this application with meego since it cover a large number of devices (don't forget IVI). So, any comments/feedback ? The idea is to use server information to update the application traffic? Some cities already have traffic information uploaded to google maps, maybe you can just use this information instead of creating a new track. Do you think that someone wants to share their location every time? Don't you think this is an private information that should be shared only to those who are friends. There are some security issues related on that. The sever capability is another problem, you need to specify how often the data should be sent to the server, how much information is sent to the server and what the server will do with the information. Depending on the solution you want to provide you will have a NP-complex problem. Thank you. No it isn't, but you answer me. :-) merge times for translations vary, and can be up to months. We're working on making this happen faster. packages are built only after the developer pushes a build to the system, there is no involvement from translators here.
