2012-08-10 Thread Dieselhead
Well the big deal on every radio news blurb yesterday was about some
golf tournament on the "longest goof course" alongside the ocean with
lots of tall grass and lots of blather about when Tiger Woods, some
other dude and Zach Johnson get teed off. Why they schedule people
to get teed off, I don't know. Why it is news that someone gets
teed of I'll never understand. Woger gets teed off every time I
post something. That never makes news.

none of the announcements said anything about some vagabond driving
out to it in an antique Mercedes to get free parking. You missed
your opportunity! If you had got all teed off when you got there,
that would have been news.

The WWII story is probably true but its also completely un-fun.

The fun story is that spam is the closest tasting you can get to human
flesh and Hawaiians with their cannibal roots prefer it above all
others...

Regarding my search for a used 617.952 engine for my '85 300TD, since there are
so many scammers out there on the I-net, I decided to play it safe and go with
Metric Motors in Canoga Park, CA. After this episode is all said and done, my
bank account will have undergone a serious dent.

I guess I don't understand why you didnt just go find another car somewhere
that you could verify the engine and just pull it and swap, then have lots of
extra parts.

I agree, that would have been my first choice. I also think that I'd rather be
seriously dented by purchasing a short block from MB before I'd role the dice
on Metric. At one point Metric was banned from advertising in The Star due to
the number of member complaints.

Domain Name Service

You and I work with names of websites or email accounts. The web actually
works with (Internet Protocol) addresses, numbers that identify a
computer. The Domain Name Service server receives a request from your
computer asking what the IP address of a certain name website is. It sends
back to your computer the number corresponding to that name. Your
computer then contacts the website by its IP address number. If the DNS
server is down, your computer cannot contact anyone.

Would not be anything you are doing. If your server ended up on an
email "blacklist" then ISPs might refuse to accept email coming from
your server. That could happen if spam or phishing emails were detected
as being sent from your domain (or possibly, if your email server is
misconfigured).

You can check this at mxtoolbox.com. But okiebenz.com is coming up
clean there, so it's probably something else. More than likely was just
a clog-up of email traffic at Wilton's ISP. Email delivery is usually
almost instant these days, but there's nothing in the protocol that
guarantees that.
