Re: [MBZ] Stainless Steel Brake Lines

2015-06-30 Thread Mitch Haley via Mercedes

The plastic liner in the braided SS line is longer lasting than the rubber line.

The SS braid is self abrasive, especially if you get it muddy. The more the
suspension moves, the quicker it causes problems.
On paved roads outside of pothole country I would expect them to last 50k miles
or more.

I was able to remove all 6 glow plugs from my 98 e300 without
breaking any. 3 of they were stuck in there good but lots of
tightening and loosening, and gentle wiggling back and forth along

screw up that job and break one off.

[MBZ] the sky is falling

2015-06-30 Thread Curly McLain via Mercedes
The sun was brilliant yesterday in the morning. by 10 am it was
hazy. By 5 pm it was dark as dusk with smoke. All this from one
suburban!!

The sky is falling! the sun has burned out! Oh The pollution! Oh
The Humanity!

no more global warming! the ice age is coming!

...

...

...

Well, actually it is smoke from forest fars in Canyada.

But the point is that natural pollution far exceeds the total
accumulation of all "manmade" pollution. Volcanoes, forest fars etc
create massive pollution, and generally within hours, the earf's
regenerative powers (trees) have mitigated the pollution.

For yesterday, I was happy for the sun being obscured so I didn't get
sunburned. I hope the fars and winds are the same today so the sun
is still obscured.

Have a good day! I am off to drive another 60 miles on my tractor.

You are emitting "displaced emissions" -- time-displaced emissions. The
solar-powered dinosaurs lived and died millions of years ago when the
whole Earth was globally warm, before racist bigot trans/homophobe
misogynistic gun-totin bible-thumping battle flag-wavin non-rainbow
rednecks, and turned into all which turns into dino-dizzel (unless you
use newer solar-powered soybean bio-dizzel) so really you are using
solar power that is millions of years old. The dino-dizzel is like a
giant solar-powered chemical battery that just happens to be a liquid
you can pump into a tank and combust in your German dizzel engine.

You can FEEL better now about it, and not have to turn in your
Bernie Sanders Fan Club Membership Card.

Bernie is the unapologetic socialist that Hillary! wants to be, and
doesn't have all the baggage of lies and criminal activity, so I'd say
go with Bernie since the Cherokee Princess has not jumped in yet. He is
also a lot more entertaining than Hilz and doesn't have that
paint-stripping vocal manner.

But, what difference, at this point, does it make?

Scaffolding support is being built for both of them I wager, in preparation

The Citizens are reaching their tolerance critical mass rather quickly, I

The great society experiment with socialism has turned into a bad acid trip

Just observations, from my view at the back of the dog team..

Subject: [MBZ] 606 glow plugs

I was able to remove all 6 glow plugs from my 98 e300 without breaking any.
3 of they were stuck in there good but lots of tightening and loosening,
and gentle wiggling back and forth along with pb blaster got them out. I
can see where it would be easy to screw up that job and break one off.

2015-06-30 Thread archer75--- via Mercedes

As a loyal American who loves our government and all of its hard working
bureaucrats, I wish they would clear up the obvious conflict between global
warming and global cooling.

"During the 1970s the media promoted global cooling alarmism with dire threats
of a new ice age. Extreme weather events were hyped as signs of the coming
apocalypse and man-made pollution was blamed as the cause. Environmental
extremists called for everything from outlawing the internal combustion engine
to communist style population controls..."

http://www.populartechnology.net/2013/02/the-1970s-global-cooling-alarmism.html

The only solution I can think of is to combine the two; (they would cancel out
each other); and put the world back into its present boring state.

Re: [MBZ] the sky is falling

2015-06-30 Thread Rich Thomas via Mercedes

I have a serious question here, Andy is the just the guy to help me out.

Hillary! very clearly has some huge baggage she is dragging around, most
recently this whole business with the personal unsecured email server,
running national-sensitive stuff through it, lying about it, not turning
over all the stuff that has been subpoenaed, using employees of her
foundation to run intel operations, stonewalling Congress, taking huge
amounts of foreign money into the foundation while SoS and dealing with
issues related to those donations, ... the list goes on.

Are Hillary! supporters really blind to all of this, or does it not
matter, or do they think that none of this is real or has any relevance
to the assumption that it is Her Turn?

I really want to know this. I don't want partisan bashing of her or any
other candidate, I truly want to know if the HRC supporters have
explanations for all this that makes it irrelevant to her candidacy. I
have friends/acquaintances who really see nothing here to be concerned
about, but can't articulate any reasons. It's like they just ignore it,
or don't see it, or something, when clearly it is out there and fairly
important stuff.

[MBZ] DOT REGS

2015-06-30 Thread Rick Hawkins Java via Mercedes
Folks,

this reg is new to me

It is possible that occasionally you may not use a truck
in commerce at all. You may be moving your personal
belongings to a new house or, as a hobby, you may be taking
your horses to a horse show. As long as the activity is not
in support of a business, the Federal hours-of-service
regulations do not apply to you.

HOWEVER in the same section they discuss driving an empty truck and the fact
that even if you are not hauling you are still commercial

I'd hate to try to convince the DOT guy that i was using my commercial truck
recreationally …

The DOT guy is going to say you are commercial.

i've done lots of jobs where i was moving people's personal effects which
could even include a printing press.

thanks,

xx rick

[MBZ] Bracken

2015-06-30 Thread Scott Ritchey via Mercedes
Thanks to whoever mentioned the Matt Bracken "Enemies" series. Being a
former sailor who often spent time in Tidewater, much of the descriptive
stuff was familiar and interesting. As a "free" Kindle download, the price
was right. Except for occasional repetition (I guess to avoid losing
readers) they are fast reads, like Clancy. But mostly, I'll be skeptical
about every future mass shooting event (even more than before), especially
if the shooter "kills himself."

Castigo Cay was interesting and oceanic too.
Less political, more like Dirk Pitt.
Protagonist is a young guy with no job and a steel hulled 60' sailboat to
support.
Bad guy owns a 'green energy' company, rakes in billions of government grants,
uses said grants to buy a $100 million yacht among other things.

Christies fat will break the nation of its subservience to political

I didn't know my "eyes were burning." Why didn't the goobermnt warn me?

Andrew sez: So-called "natural pollution" wouldn't be burning your
eyes if not for dramatically hotter and drier weather, exacerbated
by human activity (burning fossil fuels). Why is this so difficult
for you to understand?

Well, actually it is smoke from forest fars in Canyada.

But the point is that natural pollution far exceeds the total
accumulation of all "manmade" pollution. Volcanoes, forest fars etc
create massive pollution, and generally within hours, the earf's
regenerative powers (trees) have mitigated the pollution.

For yesterday, I was happy for the sun being obscured so I didn't
get sunburned. I hope the fars and winds are the same today so the
sun is still obscured.

Re: [MBZ] DOT REGS

2015-06-30 Thread Curly McLain via Mercedes
Pointing out the law to the ges tapo is a good
way to make it worse. When they start
"interpreting" stuff into the "law" that isn't
there, the only thing that works is "yes Sir.
How much is the fine? Where do I pay" Arguing
with them is futile and only will make things
even worse for you.

Their position is "if it looks like a truck, it
is commercial." THey really don't car if you are
hauling your own clothing or your antique car.
They can and will say that is commercial.

Folks,

this reg is new to me

It is possible that occasionally you may not use a truck
in commerce at all. You may be moving your personal
belongings to a new house or, as a hobby, you may be taking
your horses to a horse show. As long as the activity is not
in support of a business, the Federal hours-of-service
regulations do not apply to you.

HOWEVER in the same section they discuss driving
an empty truck and the fact that even if you are
not hauling you are still commercial

I'd hate to try to convince the DOT guy that i
was using my commercial truck recreationally Š

The DOT guy is going to say you are commercial.

i've done lots of jobs where i was moving
people's personal effects which could even
include a printing press.

[MBZ] W115 and W123 for sale

2015-06-30 Thread Peter Frederick via Mercedes
Hey folks, my brother has decided to part with his older Mercs -- one
is a 1976 300D in running condition, recently rebuilt engine and
working transmission, but very rusty (no floor pans, again). Home
made seat covers up front, worn factory in the rear. Restorable if
you want to put the time and money in, runs great. He's asking $600
for it, I think.

The other is a 1985 300D, big hit on the front, crushed grill, hood
bad, radiator and condenser gone, right headlight and fender gone.
Nephew ran into a Jeep with it. Bumper looks OK, but we've not
measured. Restorable, probably, if you want to do the work. Good
engine and transmission, was running great when the nephew wrecked
it. Good interior, very nice car. He wants $800 for this one.

No parts, he want's the cars gone.

Ya gotta think positive. "Ya gotta know the territory" )(Prof. Harold Hill)

Okie Acres II is not that far from Manhattan (NYC requirement) We
can find you an island in Eastern Okieland and a few carobs
(Caribbean requirement) and something near Mediterranean for the
requirements. Now she thinks the 3 are mutually exclusive, but you
can give her all 3 at once in OK!
