Re: [MBZ] OT Aladdin oil lamps

2016-03-27 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
Oh sure, take a look on Craigslist, they show up.Lots of guys put wanted ads on
Craigslist too, my friend Tim has bought lots of stuff that way.
Coleman made table lamps too which are a good choice, they throw way more light
than an Aladdin which throws way more light than a dead flame lamp. You've got
to be careful with what you're using for fuel modern "kerosene" often has a low
temp at which it'll make vapors. Heat from the burner travels into the fount
and heats the oil there. The oil turns into vapors which pushes up around the
wick and pretty soon you've got a geyser of flame, bad news.I use a mix of
hardware store kerosene and lamp oil. The paraffin lamp oil has a very high
flash point and no odor (although it smells like melted crayons when the lamp
is snuffed out, I do that outside) but is rather expensive. The kerosene has
kind of an objectionable smell but is way cheaper. Mixed I get the benefits of
each.
I've got some Jet A which a lot of guys have said is okay in wick lamps but the
wick lamp guys say its got too low a flash point. If I can ever find my IR
thermometer again I'll test it out.

Anybody know what a friendly/wholesale dealer would sell the usual

Northlake wants $123 for internet customers, which implies about
$116 for wholesale, but I have a feeling that shipping kills that
deal.

List appears to be $165.

Mitch

They are all around $138 up plus $20 core That includes advance with 20% off.

I got a return from interstate Dist for $80, but no warranty. It is
not the 900/1000 cca capacity. Probably around 750-800 rated. No
good prices on grp 49 batteries.

[MBZ] OT Aladdin oil lamps

Hey Curt, ever see a used Aladdin lamp for sale? Looks like a new lamp costs
about $165 and up, which is crazy money to me.

[MBZ] Battery prices?

2016-03-27 Thread Mitch Haley via Mercedes
Anybody know what a friendly/wholesale dealer would sell the usual Group 49 / H8
battery (9069820008) for?
Northlake wants $123 for internet customers, which implies about $116 for
wholesale, but I have a feeling that shipping kills that deal.

List appears to be $165.

Anyone know the part number for the male side that goes into a 002 545 99
26 (female contact, 2.5 mm)? This is for the radio antenna harness
connection on The White Whale aka 124.193 aka '87 300TD.

Old antenna dead, replacing with sedan antenna but the harness connection
is different, and some earlier idiot has cut off the old harness from the
antenna on the antenna side, so all I have is the body harness connector.

EPC only shows the body harness side of that connector.

Alternatively, anyone (Fred?) have a dead parts wagon or sedan that has the
male side of that connector? These pins are smaller than the normal 4mm
pins used in most connectors in a 124.

That sounds like a better solution.  Fewer $$$, but I'd have to make
a winder machine happy.  I have a couple whiney winders 7 boxes and
the rest are xp.  (or server 03).  I have not even cranked one up
for at least 6-7 months.  None will be happy.

Probably so. I think I will tell the guy I will bring a battery down but I
would only be willing to pay $1500 for it and see what he says. I would be more
willing to gamble that than $2500

[MBZ] 2.5mm male connector part number (and Happy Easter!)

2016-03-27 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
