Re: [MBZ] OT: Now it's the washing machine

2020-10-16 Thread Allan Streib via Mercedes
Last time I needed a drain pump for an LG I ordered it on Amazon to save
a few bucks. It arrived broken. They did exchange it, but that's
annoying and left me without a washer for longer than necessary. The
eventual replacement did work and lasted until the pot-metal drum
support broke (see the start of this thread). At that point I replaced
the washer

RepairClinic.com will probably cost a little more but I've never
received a bad part from them.

Re: [MBZ] OT: Now it's the washing machine

2020-10-16 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
For what it’s worth, I was wondering about the chatter about new appliances
being unobtanium due to everyone staying home with the pandemic. Our new house
had no appliances even though they were on the description, so we negotiated
$3k off the price. The builder said they can’t get stuff fast enough and they
were having to credit people back at closings because they couldn’t get the
appliances for the homes fast enough.

I was at Lowe’s the other day and it was pretty slow, so I walked through the
appliance department and spoke to one of the sales people.

Long story short, they can get appliances. It’s hit or miss, and if there’s a
particular model you want and they don’t have it, it’s a roll of the dice when
or if it will ever show up. They had a pretty decent selection of stuff across
all price ranges and said that if they’ve got it in the store or warehouse you
can have it in a day or two.

So I guess as long as you’re not stuck on a particular model and can be
flexible, there are appliances to be had. I specifically asked about Bosch
dishwashers, and she said they had plenty of them but not all models.

approach at that time.

Lifetime fluid was good for warranty claims, but bad for MBZ's
reputation of lasting over 200k miles. Transmissions and transfer cases
should outlast the warranty on factory fluid, but they don't last
forever without fluid changes.
