Boeing, flying windows into the ground. Oil out of AK is still sitting just under $70. Maybe the price will creep up now that there is less fuel making its way to the Mid-Atlantic. Probably not. Bakken remains reasonable. West TX the same. Could see a replay of the oil mess of last May. Re: [MBZ] Price Of Fuel
That would resolve a host of issues for the cruise ship industry. AK is going to have a massive bust if the boats full of tourist fail to show up for yet another year. Thing were just starting to look up after six years of recession, and then the current plague sucked a massive number of jobs in tourism out with the tides. Canada does not allow boats to transit or dock, so anybody getting on a boat in Seattle, with Jones act dead, would be most welcome in GWN. Not sure how much more transport of goods northbound would make for better living there as well. Then again, the boats heading south are pretty much deadheading garbage/trash and recycling. Not much of commercial value otherwise. clay Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rapidly promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end. > On May 9, 2021, at 8:27 PM, Rick Knoble via Mercedes > wrote: > > I wonder if they (government) will suspend the Jones Act. > > > Rick ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Excellent points. Imagine if all the Bombers built at Willow Run Plant were built by Windows based computers... Heck, we would be speaking German along with everyone else in the "New Third Reich". And, the Windows computers would still be rebooting from the latest crash. [MBZ] A gratifying project this afternoon
So this 99ML320 I have with the limp mode issue that I can't seem to resolve had a nice 5000lb Drawtite 2" receiver hitch on it. I was wanting to get one for the 05ML500 so I figured I would just swap it over. I watched an installation vid on etrailer.com, easy enough, so I did that this afternoon. For some reason on etrailer they rate it a 10/10 but all the mounting points are there from the factory, it is a bit fiddly to get the bolts attached but not hard, and you have to use these nuts with a tab on them to slide them up in the frame rails for the bolts to grab on the end brackets. I did get out the HF electric impact driver to get the big bolts off the center hitch part, they were on really tight but it spun them off easy enough. Only wrinkle was I had to get out the Roto-zip and trim off a small bit of the bumber for it to fit over the hitch. This was not an issue as the bumber is all cracked and half of it is missing anyway so hacking it up a bit was OK. I need to hit some junkyards to see if I can find another one in better shape. Oh, and on the 05 there are radio antenna panels mounted inside the bumber cover, one on each side right behind the rear wheels. A very weird thing. The 99 also has a wiring kit installed, there is some kind of special box that isolates the light system or something, but wiring it up into the taillights looks to be straightforward. I think you have to run a power line to the battery to get power, and the little box senses the various lights then activates them off the isolated power. I am going to order another one for the 05 and an adapter for 4-wire --> 7 wire as my big trailer has that setup for the brakes and the wiring kits are only 4-wire. Will be about $50 for that kit, so not too spendy to get towing mode engaged. The 5000lb version has these brackets that mount on the ends of the crossmember behind the bumber and to the longitudinal frame rails to give an additional 1500lb capacity. https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Mercedes-Benz/M-Class/2005/75087.html?VehicleID=20052501 So now I will be good to tow with it and haul more fine Marzaydeez Bintz automobiles home! -- --FT ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Price Of Fuel
As someone involved in the security side of things, I am aware of this incident, which was due to a ransomeware attack. These exploit the ignorance of humans to be successful, which is the weakest part of the whole system. If we relied solely on hardware and software solutions for security we would be far better off. When the human element is factored in, all bets are off. You can’t imagine the stupid, idiotic stuff people do or get coerced to do. I see this stuff all the time, and it never ceases to amaze me. If I get the right person to respond to my efforts, I’m in and ready to wreak havoc. In a case like this, the best thing to do is completely shut down and start methodically bringing things up with trusted/clean hardware and images. It takes time, but I assume this is what the transmission line folks are doing. -D > On May 9, 2021, at 8:20 AM, G Mann via Mercedes wrote: > > I'm seeing that industries across the board have built themselves a > particular vulnerability by running their entire operations via computers. > The number and scope of such attacks have increased, yet, the weakness of > your entire operation, delivery of product, and profit is all tied to a > computer system that is vulnerable to attack. > To my way of thinking, this has evolved into utterly stupid, and it is now > every industry, not just one. > > Someone, somewhere, can remotely turn off your comfortable life, and stop > the supply of goods, or services. > But... hey... nothing to worry about because everyone is good... right? > > On Sat, May 8, 2021 at 10:10 AM Mitch Haley via Mercedes < > mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > >>> On 2021-05-08 11:16, Rick Knoble via Mercedes wrote: >>> Is probably going up. >>> >>> >> https://dnyuz.com/2021/05/08/cyberattack-forces-a-shutdown-of-a-top-u-s-pipeline-operator/ >> >> To quote a guy who owns an oil company: >> >> Depends on how fast they can get it restored. >> >> >> Last time it was down, it was down for 16 days due to a leak caused by a >> contractor working on it. >> >> >> If it’s for a few hours / days. Re: [MBZ] Price Of Fuel
I'm seeing that industries across the board have built themselves a particular vulnerability by running their entire operations via computers. The number and scope of such attacks have increased, yet, the weakness of your entire operation, delivery of product, and profit is all tied to a computer system that is vulnerable to attack. To my way of thinking, this has evolved into utterly stupid, and it is now every industry, not just one. Someone, somewhere, can remotely turn off your comfortable life, and stop the supply of goods, or services. But... hey... nothing to worry about because everyone is good... right?
