Re: [MBZ] Hello Again and A Question
The FCP “free” option is almost always the best way to go unless you’re in a hurry. They use WorldPac for some of their stuff so it can often end up coming from a warehouse nearby, as it often does for me. There’s a WorldPac in Miami so if it comes out of there I‘ll often have it the next day. Rock Auto is good for closeouts, but that’s about it as far as I’m concerned. If you have items in multiple warehouses the shipping becomes onerous, making it less expensive to buy it from someone else and pay shipping. Don’t ignore your local dealer when you’re shopping, as you can often be pleasantly surprised at the cost of OE parts. Case in point, motor mounts for an ML (W163) are only about $30-$35/each from the dealer. Aftermarket is $20. Why wouldn’t you pay a little more for the OE part in this case, especially when you consider the effort it takes to replace them. -D > On Nov 1, 2021, at 3:11 PM, Allan Streib via Mercedes > wrote: > > My last order I chose the cheapest option. Re: [MBZ] Trailer reno
You remind me, the snowmobile club has a bridge that needs to be re-decked. The lumber came for it on Saturday: https://photos.app.goo.gl/eSu9FV537EcatnBf6 55x 6"x8"x12' they weigh 140# each. They were delivered in a dump trailer, we had to transfer them to a flatbed that the club owns. Most of it was hand work. Sunday I could barely flex my fingers... -Curt On Sunday, October 31, 2021, 04:43:14 PM EDT, Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes wrote: I hauled my daughters 95E320 back yesterday and when we were loading it the trailer deck gave way. I have replacement decking but have just not replaced it yet. So now I am. I took off the old deck, mostly rotted. Hit the frame with the pressure washer and got it pretty clean. I’ve had the trailer for 10-11yr I guess, and it was used probably a couple more years old, so it has served well. It is starting to rust so I figure while I have the deck off I’ll paint it. I’m thinking to hit the rusty spots with POR as going at it with wire wheel would be a huge effort on all that channel iron and such. I might hit a few spots with the wheel that are easy to reach. Then some rust oleum on that. I was thinking to put deck stain on the PT wood, mix in a little sand for better traction. Re: [MBZ] Dune
Yesterday we saw "Beetlejuice" at our local theater, great Halloween movie... Anyway there was a trailer for the new Dune movie, it actually didn't look as terrible as I expected. My in-laws apparently went to see it this weekend. MIL is working her way though the book, it'll be interesting to see what they thought. -Curt On Sunday, October 31, 2021, 10:47:21 AM EDT, Peter Frederick via Mercedes wrote: I read the whole series when it was new, and was disappointed with the later books. I think Dune could be a good series (more than 3 episodes) but it is (IMO) foolhardy to try to tell the whole story in a movie. There were several other sequel and prequel books based on Dune. Re: [MBZ] Dune
Remember that the book is from 1965 which was a period during which there tended to be more sci in the sci-fi. Writers like Pohl and Heinlein (especially Heinlein I think) struggled with science fiction that had possible physics. They would often add the "undiscovered" which allowed them to stretch the physics of the day but they didn't use so much magic physics like you see in Star Wars and Star Trek. The novel Dune has a lot of science in it, like the water suits. It's also got socio-politics in the way the people use water as currency and kind of religion. Any kind of movie is going to be hard because you don't have time to explain that stuff. People who read a lot of sci-fi, especially sci-fi of that period, will be more prepared for that kind of stuff... -Curt On Sunday, October 31, 2021, 09:27:26 AM EDT, Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes wrote: I’m big into sci-fi but not really this sort of sci-fi. Re: [MBZ] Hello Again and A Question
Fcpeuro have a lot of good stuff and there are 3 or 4 MB dealers that have decent prices. If you have a particular part you’re after do a search on the part number and you can usually find one of the suppliers. I just ordered 3 radiator hoses from fcpeuro and their prices were quite good, plus lifetime replacement on everything they sell. —FT Sent from my iPad > On Nov 1, 2021, at 12:52 AM, B Dike via Mercedes > wrote: > > Hi folks this is Bruce from way back.
