You can pull one at the knackers or find one on eBay for probably not too much. 
Then it needs to be flashed to match the car. Those who do it can charge a fair 
amount, $300 or $400 maybe?

This 06E350 I got on trade had a buggered ECU, somehow it got set to be for a 
V8. My buddy Todd had one sitting on a shelf so flashed it to match the car. 
I’ve still got to get the starter swapped to get it started. 

That car looks like putting a few $100 into it would not be unreasonable. Maybe 
even some negotiation would make it a better deal

I’ll defer to Floyd, but I know on a couple of engines, like the M156, and the 
M127 it’s around $500 for a rebuilt one. Used ECUs can be found for less on 
venues such as eBay.

I do believe they have to be version-coded, but again, I would defer to others' 
knowledge on this, as it’s an area I haven’t done much work in.

HF store and picked up a 5-ton hydraulic three-jaw puller.

Got the left rear in the air, the wheel off, and soaked it some more for about 
30 minutes. Then, using an 18” pry bar, I put pressure on the back of the rotor 
and tapped it repeatedly using a 1 lb. ball peen hammer around the hub and on 
the face of the hub, after which about a minute, it popped loose at one side 
and then came off. Huzzah! I took care of replacing the pads, pressing the

[MBZ] Started on the GL oil cooler job

Going fine till I got to the turbo removal. All that crap is back up under the 
firewall and I am working by feel. That and the GL sits up much higher than the 
211 making this part of the job a swine. I removed the firewall heat shield 
panels back there to gain access. At this point i am attempting to remove the 6 
bolts for the turbo exhaust Y pipe. This car appears to have had somebody in 
here working on it before because I have a few bolt missing on little items and 
some bolts are hex bolts instead of the torx bolts. Anyway, the y pipe, on the 
211 these came off without a problem. On this car, using a long ratchet no go. 
I put a cheater pipe on and cranked in it to the point I was no longer 
comfortable. Last thing I want is for the bolt to round off or snap off. I 
think I’m going to soak them in PB blaster and come back at it tomorrow with 
the impact. It is looking like I’m going to have to remove the wiper motor 
assembly to gain even more access to the area.
