Re: [MBZ] One for RR -- 2004 Mercedes-Benz m-class ML 350 Sport Utility 4D, $4, 800

2024-01-02 Thread Bob Rentfro via Mercedes
I am now in possession of the blue ML. Excellent scouting job done by Floyd
et.al. The cowcatcher, or is Dan likes to call it the grocery cart catcher, has
grown on me since I’ve seen it in person. It’s not quite as obnoxious as it
wasn’t the pictures. And besides, if it were taken off, it would leave two
gaping holes in the bumper. So it’s gonna stay on.
The seller was a nice young Eastern European guy. He had sundry other Mercedes
sitting around in his yard, all high-end kind of fancy ones. I love it when
sellers aren’t clowns. We drove around Greenville last night a little bit,
picking up a few Clemson souvenirs and grabbing a bite to eat, and it’s exactly
what I expected.
Before we start out, I am going to replace the air filter, I’m going to replace
the cabin filter because it’s permeated with the scent of the little green pine
tree that has been hanging off of the cruise control stalk for Lord knows how
long, and ensure all of the wiper blades are in good shape. hopefully nothing
bubbles up as we drive along. When I get home the things I know I’m gonna do
right away and replace the struts on the hood and then commence going all
Martha on it.
Off to the DMV, then Hotlanta

FYI, the good stock wiper blades for these are NLA. Good opportunity for me to
find aftermarket replacements. The stock (factory) wiper blades have a big
“sail” on them to keep them pressed against the windshield at higher speeds,
and they do make a difference.

I'd take that cow catcher. It's actually up where my daughter lives and
she is on her way here to visit. If she was there I'd ask her to take a

Fly into CLT or GSV and drive it home.

Wiper blades are often overlooked until you're driving 300 miles on a wet
winter highway and dirty spray fills the air. On that note, be sure the washer
fluid is topped up.

Hope you like the new car!

[MBZ] 2011 Mercedes C300 4Matic - Cold Start Hesitation?

2024-01-02 Thread Robert Koziak via Mercedes
Hi All,
I recently replaced all the spark plugs and coil packs on my daughter's
2011 Mercedes C300 4Matic w/110K.  I had multiple codes after the replacement
and with the help of the group finally determined that there was an issue with
the "New" coil packs that I installed.  I purchased 6 Bosch Coil Packs from
RockAuto and the car runs great so I returned the others.
Drove the car 300 miles ran great with no Check Engine Light!
But. I have noticed an occasional issue with cold starts there is
some engine hesitation.  It smooths out pretty fast but today (28 degrees)
there was an up and down with the idle speed and it felt like it might stall.
I gave it a little gas and it ran great ever since.
I researched a little and came up with a few possible suggestions to look
at:
- Fuel Filter- Fuel Pump- MAF needs cleaning- Fuel Injectors
That's quite a range of possibilities!  Anyone have a similar issue who can
share their fix?
Thanks in advance!
Bob K

When driving my "new" '85 300TD purchased in Norfolk back north to D.C. I
encountered a torrential downpour somewhere south of Fredericksburg on
I-95. The wipers did one revolution and then blew a fuse. Changed the
fuse several times with no change in results. I somehow managed to drive
through the rain sans wipers (front and rear) with occasional stops beneath
highway underpasses.

Turns out the rear wiper motor AND rear wiper relay were both faulty, but
since that circuit included the front wiper motor as well I had no wipers
in the front either. Why does Mercedes do this?

Re: [MBZ] 2011 Mercedes C300 4Matic - Cold Start Hesitation?

2024-01-02 Thread Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes
The only way to figure these problems out is with a good diagnostic scanner.
You can watch cold start data and see what’s going on, and you see any errors
in the system. Only way to save time, money, misery, and guesswork.

That said, does it have secondary air injection? That adjusts air and stuff on
cold start.
