[MBZ] Recirculation Air Vacuum Module? 300D Turbo
300D Turbo; Anyone know where to get a Diaphram KIT or vacuum module for recirculating door; looked up no one has it shown or listed; all the others but not this one e-mailed buymbparts.com got NO response from them i can't read all the #s on these; this is the one on top, all the way under right side of dash with 1 bend on end of rod that goes in recirculating flap; if i had a new diaphram or the diaphram from the center flap; might work; # is 062100169 these #s may not all be correct; maybe buy a cheaper $22 center flap vac. mod. use diaphram if it FITS?, looks same size; instead of a $65 other vac. mod. Hi Sunil Hari; my 240D has a Reman. engine with only about 30k miles on it; $1635 in engine alone; TOO bad it is Automatic; like to get somewhere near $2000 for it Steve

Hi; I saw a new 07 UPS truck; made by Freightliner with a 4 cylinder turbo. Mercedes Benz diesel in it; looks lika a larger 4 cyl. than my 240D, Ha!Ha!; man said runs good gets good mileage, though he didn't say how much mpg Steve

Thanks Craig for the tip, using aluminum foil as reflector, on dash light wrap around back side of light pipes; how about chrome mylar?? thanks, Steve

Great idea Rich!; i don't recall the resister value to use from 13-14 volts to voltage of leds; that the reflective foil might be interesting to try?? Steve
[MBZ] 85 300D inst. cluster removal hint
HINT; under hood see where speedometer cable goes; if it has a cable tie attaching it to back of engine in oil housing area; remove cable tie(you can put another one on after the job); this will allow the cluster to come out further to get to items that need to be unplugged or unscrewed, such as oil line, speedometer(makes it much easier more room to get your hand behind it) as Jim states, the non insulated spade lug going to clock; seems to be only thing that can blow a fuse if touched to back of metal on inst. cluster; after getting tired of changing fuses every time i pull cluster ; i change mine to insulated one so doesn't blow fuses anymore when cluster removed you can take inside on table work on it where it is warm or cool inside; you can also remove check all light bulbs clean then; even install brighter ones in the 2 dash illuminating sockets;if your dash light dimmer is not working properly, now is time to change it or you can solder a jumper across it to stay on bright all the time, believe me in my opinion it will not be Too bright ; I leave mine on full brightness all the time; (did this once to save money) i also repainted all the instrument hands, couldn't find florescent yellow, so used flour.red paint Steve

Good point Jim; I'll keep an eye out for melting light pipes; if they do melt i will change bulbs back replace dash housing with one of my many others also the M.B. removal tools work great; some on list said they also work on removing the clip inside differential that goes on half shafts; WORKS GREAT!!! thanks, Steve Stephen Murrell Tecumseh, Ok. 74873 85 300D Calif. model; gets best fuel mileage; right side crashed, runs drives real good, finally got both right doors to open -$1100-290K 83 300D my nicest looking one-$730-190K 79 240D reman. engine; would like to sell for around $2000 or trade or offer; many NEW parts; over $1685 in engine alone; not counting labor-280K;about 25K on new engine Ford 1220 Tractor diesel 1971 LTD high comp. 400 engine; would sell for $750 or trade or offer,dad bought new-119K German Schnauzer, my only family here
