Re: [MBZ] [OT] GM recalling nearly 69,000 Bolt EVs for fire risks

I wonder if Quebec is a small enough market the manufacturers could say "Meh"
and just move on?
It doesn't really matter, hybrids are allowed and there are plenty of those on
the market...

That will require a bunch of coal.  Or the construction of more nuke plants.
And I seem to recall a few years back the grid failed and took out power across
both Canada and US Atlantic coast.

On the other hand, all my Diesel Mercedes are perfectly happy and present
zero risk of self ignition when I fill the fuel tank all the way to the top.
In fact, I can even let them set for months, un-attended, and self ignition
never happens.

Since we live in a world that places high value on "green energy" the
question is raised.
"How many green energy miles do you have to drive to offset the pollution
caused by a percentage of a particular electric car burning uncontrolled
after self ignition?"

Likely, but on the flip side it increases battery life significantly.
Lithium doesn't like to be charged over 80% or discharged below 20%.
So "100%" was probably 95% in real life.
