[MBZ] 300SDL, How is the headlight wiper removed?
I have looked in every section of the FSM that I thought it would be covered. There are three pages discribing how it works. I need to replace my headlight doors and those instructions only say to remove the headlight cleaning wiper. I would never drive nor ride in a car that did not have wipers to clean the headlights, would you? Easy. If you look closely at the headlight wiper where it is mounted on the motor shaft, you'll notice that the metal cover that matches the arm is hinged. If you carefully pry the cover up, you'll find a 10mm nut on the end of the motor shaft. Take the nut off and the arm will come off, much like a regular windshield wiper arm does. Seeing as how I have never had a car with headlight wipers, I guess the answer to your question is yes, I would ride in a car without headlight wipers. Thanks guys, its sure easy when you get the right information. I replaced both headlight doors. I snipped some strips of metal from an old rusty rocker panel and used it to weld some gaps and cracks inside and outside of my microwave oven. Time for breakfast.
