Put the new one on and leak is gone. Now I need to wait until some numbskull causes me to stop on the proverbial dime and we'll see if the low idle problem has been corrected. Why do you need an extra a-hole around to conduct this test? (The one you're equipped with should be sufficient! :-) -- Jim

I've got a replacement primer pump I'm going to install but it seems having a 22mm or 23mm crows foot kind of deal is almost essential. As I recall, I just used a pair of vice grips to get the old pump out and the new one was smaller and went in without a problem with a normal wrench...(again, this was on an 83' 300D). now if you were going to install another of those old style pumps and/or try to reuse your old one, you'd prit-near have to remove the hoses and barbs from the lift pump itself to get room to get a wrench on there... Primer pump is now replaced. I finally was able to get a 15/16 wrench in there just right (I think initially I wasn't holding my mouth right) and break the old one free.
