Re: [MBZ] Brits; what's wrong with these people?

2006-08-02 Thread Hendrik Riessen
It is strange because that sort of thing is good advertising for MB, I
suppose they where hoping that the 124 would fall apart at the first pothole
and they would stand around it and snigger at the supposed build quality of
the star brand.
However I see that sort of thing as pointless, if they had put the 124
against comparable cars from other car makers I would have said yeah I can
see the point but to take just one car and try and kill it does not make
sense.
Now the question is which cars would be comprable to the 124 T? Italian
would be Alfa, French Peugot or Citron, Swedish Volvo, British Jaguar,
perhaps someone could help me out with an American car, I know that in Oz
nothing was made that could be compared with a 124.
However even buying three different second hand cars would not be fair
because of the way they have been treated in the past. That 124 might have
had 's spend on it recently to refurbish it whereas another car might
have had 0 $'s spend on it.
Anyway I don't bother watching that show because they play around with stuff
I can't afford and all they are doing is making me feel inadequate because I
don't drive a super car and don't have a racing car to play with on the
weekends. Then again I have a UNIMOG which is way cooler than any Ferrari
will ever be, unless Ferrari decides to make a high performance 4x4 truck
with a towing capacity of 11 tonnes (not that you would pull 11 tonnes down
the road with a 5 tonne vehicle).

Someone posted a link to a news story about an MB that was run over by
a NATO tank (in Norway?) a year or two ago. The tank went over the
drivers side - about one tread width. It crushed the car to the top of
the door window sill. The driver and his wife were not injured. That
convinced me of the structural integrity of the MB.

Is there a way to download the videos to watch later on that site? My PC
comes up with an error message. Would love to watch them but can't sit here
in front of the PC waiting for them to load.

Well, they used a bit more than wontons on that car, I especially liked
the energetic dissociations of various devices in the final reel. It
was funny in one scene where the rear wiper was still trying to do it's
job with the window missing, the hatch all bent up. If I ever get into
a crash with a monster truck I want to be driving one of these cars
(wait, I think I do).

I have yet to complete the process to verify 100%, but it appears so...
I'm downloading from this site right now:
http://keepvid.com/

But it looks like this would probably work directly...
