Re: [MBZ] CL Search Question
I second the motion: Autotempest provides links to Craigslist sites within the parameters of your original search, e.g. distance from your zipcode. Re: [MBZ] CL Search Question
Thanks, Rick! I hadn’t dug down that deeply into the search arguments yet, but this is definitely the direction I was going. For what it’s worth, while I was searching for ways to configure search parameters on CL I came across a BuzzFeed article about searching CL with a bunch of fun phrases that bring up some interesting stuff: "My wife/husband is making me" "My wife/husband doesn't like" "My wife/husband won't let me" "But now we have kids" are a great way to find fun and/or luxury items that people are getting rid of. Phrases and words like: "Leaving country" "Liquidation" "End of lease" "Must go" "No reasonable offer refused" "Everything must go" “ASAP" Again, thanks! -D > On Apr 22, 2020, at 10:43 AM, Rick Knoble via Mercedes > wrote: > > https://tampa.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=Porche%7CPorsche%7Cporsh%7Cporshe+944=rel=T > > Rick > > > ___ > http://www.okiebenz.com > > To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ > > To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: > http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com > ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Yes when I used to search Mercedes without doing that search titles only it brings up every make under the sun. I don’t think somebody searching Mercedes is interested in a F350. Try the autotempest site, it seems to filter things pretty well and does nationwide CL searches you can narrow down well -_FT On 4/22/20 9:56 AM, Dan Penoff via Mercedes wrote: I’m wondering if there is a way to search Craigslist for a particular car, let’s say a Mercedes 300D for example, and be able to filter out all the non-pertinent ads that people have put up using tags like “Mercedes”. It appears that CL will put the listings with tags under the listings that have the actual search term in the title. That is, ads with “Mercedes” and “300D” will show up first, then any listings with the “Mercedes” or “300D” tags afterwards. This is a pain, as there are some idiot car dealers around here who throw a list of tags in their ads for darned near every marque there is, so their ads for totally unrelated vehicles will show up in the search. This is a bit of a d*ck move on their part, but I understand why they do it to get more eyeballs on ads. -D ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com -- --FT ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

If you are searching from the CL page after you enter your search click the search titles only box on the left side. Re: [MBZ] CL Search Question
I’ve got a buddy who is looking for a Porsche 944. Trying to search on “Porsche” brings up so many flipping non-Porsche ads it’s frightening, as it seems like everyone and their brother in the used car business thinks that putting “Porsche” as a tag on their ad will get it in front of buyers with money, I’m guessing. It makes searching a real PITA, as we all know that a lot of ads are poorly written or titled, meaning that being able to search on a single term brings up stuff you might otherwise not see. Hmm. I have somewhat of an answer, but probably not. For one, you can do title only search's. For two, you can use a vertical line | pipe, whatever it's called, as an "or" operand. For example, title only, Mercedes|Benz 300|300d|300td|300dt|diesel I *really* dislike that dealers do that. Oh and obviously the space indicates "and".
