[MBZ] Coup 4 sale

2010-11-17 Thread andrew strasfogel
This one provides an especially rich harvest of malapropisms, right off the
bat with "coup", followed by "tiers" and other fantastical approximations of
real words. Through the minefield of bad grammar and spelling, however, I
detect an aura of sincerity...

Yeah, sounds like an honest seller. When was the last time you saw
someone selling an old car admit that the A/C is just plain broken,
instead of "needs a charge"?

I like that the stereo, though not original, is a newer Becker rather
than a Sony or some such with lots of cheesy light-up graphics and
fiddly little buttons. Classy.

The spelling and grammar errors are consistent with a particular group
of non-native speakers of English. I wouldn't be too hard on him.

I pretty much agre with what you wrote. I was thinking of Iranian-English
but not certain of this - what's your interpretation? The car is rust-free
and v. clean but when you factor in the "little things" involved in making
it mechanically perfect and cosmetically "concours" I figure a fair price
would be somewhere in the range of $15 to $20 K. Biggest wildcard holding
back the bidding might be the lack of a sunroof, although having PW makes
that less of a necessity.

They are useful for quicker venting of heated air from a car that has been
sitting in the sun but otherwise are more of a PIA due to clogged drains,
rust, and misalignment problems.
