been waiting for another 603 to use.

I second that. Is it a 617, which supposedly won't fit under the
hood unless you drop the mounts (and endange the oil pan), or is
it a 603/606? I suspect it's a 617, they are a lot more common. 

Even if you paid $3-5k for the diesel conversion, isn't the price
2-3x any reasonable number?

Is there gold plating under the paint? Somehow, $36K seems a bit much for a car 
where the AC does not work etc.

For that price, I think I will just scrounge an old w123 and a w107  
and do the work in the garage.  Even retail prices from Performance  
parts would leave a huge profit to be made.  With parts from Rusty, I  
could have to pay folks to take it off my hands
