Re: [MBZ] Radio works Larry's 300D

2020-02-23 Thread Curley McLain via Mercedes

https://www.ebay.com/itm/253485443349

I'd advise you to wait until it gets here so I can make sure it
works.    The original for the 91 300D 2.5 is 2 piece.   It appears this
one piece replaces the 2 piece.  No indication of the quality of rubber
used.   It could be uro via Deutschland.   CC has the lower piece, but
the top piece is NLA.  There is also a smaller dia 2 piece seal used on
124s   I have 2 of the small lower parts from a CC order sometime, but
no top piece.

I can't remember if the ones i had were for the 87 or if they were for
the wagons.  somehow they shipped 3 lower and one upper, and I used one
set. so I have the 2 lowers.  I suspect they are orphans, if that top is
NLA also, they are orphans.   They are for a "normal" antenna hole. The
91 sedan has a big oval hole, so you can't just stick an aftermarket
antenna in the hole.   I don't remember moving them so I think they are
for the 87 sedan.

It wasn’t just me. Someone else mentioned you should power up and wait, too…

I think the timer just piles on every time an attempt is made and fails. I seem
to recall working on a spare radio I had a while back and fat fingering the
code 3-4 times and it taking it the better part of a day to time out. Glad it’s
working now.

Your clue about waiting out the radio was right.   about 4 this

2017-10-22 Thread Max Dillon via Mercedes
Thanks, I've got some fine scratches from the wiper blades on the windshield of
my wagon, I'll bet this would do the trick.

I'm also tempted to try this on SWMBO's Infiniti windshield, which has some
pitting, and headlights from oncoming traffic cause terrible glare.

fine “screen” that was not pleasant to look through, especially at night.

This took those scratches out to the point where they are gone. There was
one very tiny scratch that was deeper than all the rest that is there but
significantly diminished. A number of the YouTube videos I watched on how
to do this used a felt wheel and really wailed on the scratches. It took
them out, but I’m not sure how that might work with pitting.

Quite honestly I don’t see how it could hurt to try. Worst case you’ll
have the cleanest windshield you’ve ever had. For the minimal amount of
effort and expense I would try it. My W126 has a pitted windshield, and if
it wasn’t going to a new owner later this week I would try it.

I think the design of the wagon’s rear wiper is what caused this to happen,
courtesy of the environment. I’ve noticed that with the wiper blade in the
parked position at about 9 o’clock I get sand that builds up on top of the
blade. Turn on the wiper, and that sand get drug across the window as the
wiper moves. Maybe some of it would get rinsed off by the washer or rain,
but probably not all of it. Therefore, the wiper is the culprit for the
fine scratches. I’ve seen some vehicles with rear wipers where the wiper
blade when parked is lifted off the surface of the glass with a plastic or
rubber stop. That would prevent crud from building up on the blade while
it’s parked.

Bought a bottle of LUCAS TRANSMISSION FIX ($ 8.00/16 oz), put it down the
tube and drove the car 50 miles. Not a drip, car sitting all night. Before
there was a 10 diameter ATF spot on the pavement.
The stuff is thicker than molassis and slicker than owlshit. It took at
least 10 minutes to pour down the D/S tube.

Um, owls don't do that, actually. Rather than passing what's left down
south, it just comes back up the way it came in. Usually lots of fur and
bones from its dinners. Or, at least, that's what the owls out here do,
 anyways.

You'll have to ask someone with a 126 who has done the procedure. It does on

do the 201's subframe. Unfortunately, I've gotten good at dropping the 201's
