The w220 rivals a high end Hyundai in fit, finish and quality. When it was functional, it was a joy to drive and I was displeased with how it developed a cascade failure of major systems after a dozen years. W220. The air suspension on this car when it works well gives an amazing ride. The car handles like it’s on rails which again is amazing for such a large car. Sam Peterson who was/is (?) on this list has one and I drove it and wow! And he claims that the air suspension issues are fairly easy to fix when broken and parts and rebuild kits no longer expensive. I always thought the reason that all cars started looking alike in the late 1990s/early 2000s at least in terms of the general "jellybean" body shape was that is what tested best in the wind tunnel, and if it got an extra MPG or shaved a fraction of a second off the 0-60 time, it was seen as worth doing. Re: [MBZ] Looks Interesting
The Audi 5000 and W124 were very aerodynamic for the 1980s, but the W124 managed to pull it off without looking more aero than the W201. The W210 had a surprisingly low Cd, at least in sedan form. A big improvement over the W124 IIRC, but it brought MB into the 'form follows function' category of styling.
