As someone who has lived many years in Va I can attest to the lack of winter driving ability. A heavy frost will see people driving crazy. A few inches of snow and people still drive the same as when it's warm and dry - and we see all kinds of 4x4's in the ditch and way up in people's yards! The worst is when we get ice. Normal people know nothing short of spikes will provide any traction but the Va drivers still drive like it is dry weather. They go the same speed and practice the same stopping distances. When we lived in NJ, Il and MD we saw *lots* of snow and ice. The residents of those states drove reasonably well - the NJ drivers were rude and discourteous, the Il drivers very good and in Md most people stayed home when the roads were bad! Probably the best methoid for surviving bad driving conditions. But Va drivers (and most living in the sun belt) get snow so infrequently they have no idea how to drive in it. Driving in a Winnipeg blizzard was challenging but actually fun because of the seeming scarcity of idiots behind the wheel (how's that for damning with faint praise?) It can actually be a lot of fun with the right vehicle - something fairly light in the back and with rear wheel drive. Steer with the accelerator. I remember driving all over the area where we live with my old 68 Chevy pickup having a blast. Neither my Suburban nor my Supercrew are as much fun as they are too heavy and big to really get going. I can slide the Supercrew but don't feel I have the control that I had with the old pickup. Supposed to snow here tomorrow but they have threatened significant snow several times and we have only had a dusting most times. We have lots of snow but it mostly came prior to Christmas. Not just DC. I remember seeing a news clip of snow in Dallas. Cars in the ditch everywhere. Of course, we get that the first time it snows. People don't seem to be able to remember one year to the next that the white stuff tends to make things slippery. And of course today, no one takes responsibility for anything. They forget that things get slippery every time it snows. We had a little bit of new snow so intersections get slippery where people brake or accelerate. You have to learn to look for snow in near the curb so that you don't slide right into the intersection. Easy to get surprised as it is not slippery everywhere - just in spots. Would ultimately like to do that. As I said, the carpet is getting a bit crispy. Going off on a tangent, are the interior upholstery pieces available individually or just as the whole set? I wonder what color match would be like with old stuff. I have a hole in the seat on the driver side base because the horsehair pad wore out and the previous owners didn't do anything to protect the cover from the springs. I have since repaired the base with the means shown on one of the websites but did not try to repair the small hole. Yes, that more parts at better prices link is not something that ANYONE looking for parts would click on, especially when their other option is online catalogue. Tell Hursty to get on with it! What caught my attention in the eBay shop (I wasn't even LOOKING for seat covers, actually I was checking the going rate on a used hydraulic compensator, of which there were none listed) was the relatively low price, as I have seen other leather sets for upwards of $3500.
