Re: [MBZ] More Fuel Tank Anatomy

I'm not familiar with your model, but I cleaned the tank of my 126 (82
300SD) in place using a pressure washer wand through the gage hole and
allowing the water to run out the strainer hole at the bottom. I used a
Shop Vac to blow air into the gage hole to dry it out overnight. Seemed to
work ... much crud came out along with parts from a gage sensor that
apparently disassembled itself in place.

Well I removed the filter from the tank of my '95 E300D and found it clogged
with slime.
So it seems like the tank should be removed and cleaned because there must
be more slime in there to just clog the filter again.
I removed the level sensor, boot at the filler, bottom hoses etc, and the 4
nuts visible from the tunk. Did everything just like the manual says. The
tank would not budge. I even started to bend it using a crow bar. WTF?
Are there more bolts somewhere on a 124 tank?

Hi Ned,
The diagram shows only nuts but doen't say how many. The Station Wagon
has a bar held in place by the nuts but not the sedan.

Do you have the Fuel Tank Removal instructions?

I don't think the crowbar is a good idea though.
