You get outside about a 6 block square around Bourbon St and you are taking a huge risk. We thought Rita might provide the rinse cycle after Katrina, but alas it was not to be. It has been my experience with rental cars that one way, unless they need cars at the destination, is usually cost prohibitive. Not sure. But I have a buddy that travels Amtrac from Hammond.La to Memphis about every 3 weeks to visit his sick mother. He says it cheaper than driving and han not had any problems with Amtrac.
