Re: [MBZ] No Fan in position I

I just noticed that the ventilation fan on my (non-AC) 190E doesn't
work
when the slider switch is in speed I - speeds II, III and MAX work
fine, so

I assuming it's not a fuse problem

Can't really be a fuse problem. Bad dropping resistor? Bad switch
contact? Getting sticky motor that just can't spin with that little
juice applied? Could be any of the above. Step one is to see if
the motor's getting juice on that setting.

Things aren't so bad Hendrik - it's the political party conference season,
which always brings on an air of bewilderment in most of us ...

We've just had the best (warmest) summer on record, and petrol (gas) is cheaper
than it has been for a long time - 0.85 UK pounds a litre if you search around

So, if the entire British nation can pool their efforts and get my fan speed
1 working, 'Old Blighty' will be just fine !

I remember that my old W126's had wire wound resistors behind one of the
headlamps to give different fan speeds - I don't see anything like that on
my W210 - how's the system work here ?

It's a linear slide switch, not a rotary one

I've looked in the archives with no luck - anyone have any ideas before I
delve in ?

Hi Howard,

How are things in old blighty? Perhaps it is a matter of pulling it out and
giving the contacts a clean.
Might be a fairly big job to get at it, unless you can get at it from the
top. If you do pull it out let us know how you did it, currently we have two
201's in the fleet and chances are sooner or later they will develop wonky
switch syndrome as well.
