[MBZ] OT: CV 19

2020-03-04 Thread Rick Knoble via Mercedes
I have a hypothesis on this virus. I suspect that the reason the CCP did the
quarantines and lock downs was that
1. It was a man-made or modified virus
2. They had absolutely no clue how contagious or lethal it was going to be.

In hindsight, I suspect that they have caused an unnecessary panic because of
incompetence, ignorance, and fear.

In my opinion, it would appear the best defense against this, or any other
pathogen, is good hygiene practice. Proper hand washing, don't rub your eyes
with unclean hands, don't pick your nose, proper bathroom hygiene, etc.

Thoughts?

All correct.    How do you protect against an unknown?

there are not  many choices, but they pretty much boil down to:
1.  Ignore it,  (wait until its characteristics are determined, then react)
2.  act proactively.   This almost always leads to being accused of
overreacting..whether it was or not.

Some of the things that happened:
1. chicomms tried to suppress it until they no longer could keep it
hidden/secret

2.  USA offered to send in experts/help
3.  chicomms refused help
4.  USA put up travel restrictions
5.  USA attempted to evacuate citizens from the area (gummit employees
first.)
6,  All known possible carriers were quarantined; later all known
carriers were quarantined.
and so forth.   Each early step taken by the USA seems reasonable.
Chicoms did what coms do.  First hide, then Lie.

To be fair, CDC and other gummit agencies identified the composition as
being part sars and part aids very quickly.  They knew it originated at
the only level 4 lab in all of china, which the WHO used our tax dollars
to help the chicomms set up a bio weapons lab.   They also determined
pretty quickly that it had a long shelf life outside a host, on
inanimate objects.

THe (J) party (and their propaganda masters) wasted no time in using the
disease as a political weapon.
Media whips the sheeple into even more of a frenzy than they were with
TDS prior to the disease.

Sheeple raid stores for masks and TP.

and here we are...

Or, it was killing people and they didnt want it to spread. So far they
seem to be the only country that has done mass surveillance and contained
it. All the epidimiologic data we have is coming out of China based on
their experience.

This virus would be a lousy bioweapon.

All bio weapons are lousy, because they all have the same flaws.
1. Containment. They can not be strictly contained to only attack the
"enemy"..
2. Delivery: Very loose parameters, all subject to simple things like wind
direction, infection vectors, etc etc etc... The USA spend billions trying
to develop bio as a war tool.. none worked.
3. The list of down side factors is manifold. To long to detail here.

Bottom line, bad business only entertained by total mad men in charge.

Stay away from nursing homes..  SanFransicko was a place to be very very
cautious in, even decades ago.   In 1988 it was like a prison.   Ugly,
dirty, filled with criminals,   They'd let you in, but you had to buy
your way out.  its only gotten worse.    It is worse than the armpit of
the country.   It is the unwiped anus of the country.   literally and
figuratively.

You could do like the chinese are doing.   Cut the bottom of a clear
plastic 5 gallon waterjug and wear it over your head to keep the virus out.

Gotta admit it is innovative when nothing else is available.   But I
wonder about its effectiveness, other than as a placebo.

The cable car museum is not to be missed, IIRC its free too. You get to see the

I used to ride the cable cars all the time when I lived there. Locals know to
go up the block from the turntables where the touristas cluster for hours and
just jump on there. Saves waiting around in line.

I loved riding the California Street line to Grant. That puts you right at
Chinatown, and the California Street line isn’t loaded with touristas like the
Powell St. lines are.

Yum.

The cable car museum is not to be missed, IIRC its free too. You get to
see the big motors that pull the cable cars around.

Gotta admit it is innovative when nothing else is available. But I

Where? San Bruno? South San Francisco?

Understand that driving five miles in this area can take considerable time.
When is your flight out?

Worst case, you could visit Colma while you’re there. Massive cemetery that is
so big it has it’s own ZIP code.

I used to ride the cable cars all the time when I lived there. Locals
know to go up the block from the turntables where the touristas cluster
for hours and just jump on there. Saves waiting around in line.

I loved riding the California Street line to Grant. That puts you right at
Chinatown, and the California Street line isn’t loaded with touristas like
 the Powell St. lines are.

 Yum.

Re: [MBZ] OT: CV 19

2020-03-05 Thread Clay via Mercedes
Speaking of SFO. I wonder what impact this virus is having upon the unhoused
who poop in the streets. No word of deaths or illness rampaging through the
tents and cardboard boxes populated with the infirm and drug addled. SEA has
as much of an issue as the Bay Area. I assume the virus will bloom well from
piles of untended feces as much as somebody sneezing. Far more people will
come in contact with rain washing virus on the street. Do not touch your shoes!

Way down south in San Jose, we used to take guests to the Rosicrucian Egyptian
Museum and Winchester Mystery House when we lived there 35 years ago. I'm sure
there must still be interesting shops, restaurants and other attractions near
Fisherman's Warf.
