Yup, if you don't do that those bastards will put your account in a revolving balance and you'll end up paying interest on a purchase you made one minute ago. Re: [MBZ] OT: Debit cards [was Re: W220 rust]
However, you have much less protection when you use a debit card than when you use a credit card. This topic came up on the local news just the other day. Credit cards have more fraud protection than debit cards. Most likely, if someone somehow steals your card or gets the number and drains your account, you'll have to pay for it. According to the report, it's just the opposite with a credit card due to the level of protection offered. Also, fringe benefits such as free or cheaper extended warranties and buyer's protection insurance only come with a credit card. We live in entirely different economic environments. I buy diesel (and, regrettably, gas for Debbie's Buick) on the debit card. I buy groceries on the debit card. I do PayPal for eBay on the debit card. Other than that, I take money out of the ATM and pull out some $20s. About the only reason I can think of to have a credit card is to rent a car. Last time I rented a car was in 1995, when I flew to Indy to give Debbie her engagement ring.
