Really? This was my third significant eclipse that we've viewed with our eclipse glasses. I don't know how I've been able to lay hands on them as needed, but I did. The experience is pretty much the same, depending on how much of the eclipse you get. It looks like we will get even more than the 80% this time in 2024, and should be in the 100% path is 2045 - don't know that we'll be alive then, but . . . On Mon, Aug 21, 2017 at 2:30 PM, Kaleb C. I considered the sailboat option, but I'm quite sure the local waters will also be covered with power boaters. We've talked to a few people, and watched our neighborhood boat storage empty out last night. It's already a mess, I awoke to emergency vehicle sirens from the major thoroughfare, highway 17, which is just about two miles away. I cannot in good conscience send them out to fend for themselves, my prayer is that if that "I told you so" moment comes, it is merely inconvenience. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '87 300TD '95 E300 On August 21, 2017 6:35:07 AM EDT, Mitch Haley via Mercedeswrote: >Max Dillon via Mercedes wrote: >> I'm out voted by the ladies, so we'll be part of the seething mass. > >Forget standing elbow to elbow with idiots that you didn't marry or >create. >Take the sailboat. > >Or, alternately: "You girls have a nice time, I'll keep the dog company >in case >he gets scared". > >I would not let anybody ruin the eclipse for me if my own backyard were >right in >the path of totality. > >If staying home and having 2 seconds less totality ruins it for wife >and >daughter units, they should join the throngs. >If joining the throngs ruins it for you like it ruins it for me, don't >join. > >Mitch. > >___ >http://www.okiebenz.com > >To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ > >To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: >http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

My abode is just about dead center, we'll get a little over a minute and a half of totality. SWMBO wants to head to the nearest beach, a barrier island, normally about a fifteen minute drive, so I think we'll need to leave at about 11 so we can be totally jammed in a huge crowd, sweating for hours, no easy toilets, no beer, and then waste another few hours trying to fight the traffic getting back off the island. Heck with that you got a plane, take off and fly up to the path of totality and watch it from the air. I think we are at 85% - will walk out to the runway for absolutely clear viewing. In what I thought was going to be a clever experiment, is cut up the lens of a viewing filter and stuck it onto the rear filter element in my 500mm reflect lens, then pointed it at the sun, thinking I could take cool digital photos. Nope - in about 5 seconds, a hole melted in the center of said filter. The nodal point of that lens must be at the filter plane. On Sun, Aug 20, 2017 at 4:10 PM, Kaleb C. At home we are at like 90%. We just arrived in Osage Beach Mo which is the closest hotel room I could book 2 weeks ago to the path. Re: [MBZ] OT In the path of the eclipse
I am right on the totality edge so my vast estate will be like 99%. If I go Over to the beach I think that will put me in 100% but unfortunately I have to go to Columbia tomorrow to testify in court on a matter of some importance. Columbia is right in the path too so this move by the judge is completely problematic as there is an expectation of millions of people descending on the city which will mean I should probably just walk there as there will be no place to park within 30miles. At least he says we will have lunch and time to watch the event but that might mean that my slot on the schedule could bleed over until Tuesday which would entail another run up there. The judge is pretty much a known jerk too, do there's that. I think he did this deliberately to cause us problems. --R Sent from iPhone > On Aug 20, 2017, at 4:28 PM, Andrew Strasfogel via Mercedes >wrote: > > Who is in the 70 mile wide eclipse path?
