[MBZ] OT Macbook Air price drop
I see today Macmall (PCMall) has 13.3" MacBook Air 1.6GHz 2GB RAM 80GB Hard Drive MB003LL/A Intel Core 2 Duo 1.6GHz, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, 80GB PATA HD, 13.3" TFT WXGA, 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard MacMall Part#: 7373085 Platform: Macintosh Mfr.Part#: MB003LL/A for $1150. That is a big drop from $1800 I just got a g4 Powerbook, so I won't be buying one. However, if anyone is interested in a G3 ibook, mine will be for sale. It has worked great for email web browsing and occaisional m$ office work. It has M$ remote desktop client, so it is my winders laptop also. It is almost as small and light as and Air, but not quite. Unlike the Air, it has a cd/dvd player/recorder in it. The MBA dropped in price because they just refreshed it. You're looking at the original version, which is no longer in production. As for price drops, don't count on it. Historically, Apple has never done it. They expect a crappy first quarter (you should have read their forward-looking statements in their recent quarterly financials) so they'll be bleeding off inventory and building little in the immediate future, I'm sure. In fact, the trades were just buzzing last week over purported cutbacks in order to some of their Asia assemblers. until recently, i was using a g3 every day. i'm pretty much all core duo now in life though outside of that twin 500 g4 powermac i just don't have the heart to relegate to the basement. Sounds like the 733Mhz G4 Quicksilver with the 15" studio display I have in our spare room. I rarely use it, but I just can't bear to part with it. It's such a cool machine and will still do a lot, even though it's got OS X on it.
