Same. Glove box out, remove a panel under the dash, stand on your head to get at the screws. I replaced the same stuff on my 211 wagon. It wasn’t too hard other than the contortions to get under the dash and get at the screws. Sounds like good decisions and sound work. Just be thankful that it wasn't a W115 chassis! Re: [MBZ] OT Volvo heater blower
Replaced today, and I have heat again. Of course it would happen on the coldest days of the winter so far. And though it was a little warmer today, it started raining about halfway through the job. Always the way it goes it seems. I replaced both the blower motor and the control board. Looking at the old control board housing, one of the contact pins is dark and the plastic around that pin is brown, so I am guessing it burned out and the motor was OK. But I'll keep the old motor as a spare. Wasn't a terrible job but enough of a PITA that replacing the blower motor at the same time was probably worth the trouble. Well I have the parts ordered. $285 from FCP Euro for a new blower, new "resistor pack" (it's actually a more sophisticated electronic speed control, recommended to replace while you have the fan out) and a new cabin air filter. Re: [MBZ] OT Volvo heater blower
2009. I needed an SUV and a guy at work was selling it. Got a good deal on it because it needed new rear wheel bearings. It was very well maintained otherwise, he had all the records and always went to the dealer even for stuff like tires and wiper blades. It's actually a very nice car, Looking at the videos the fan replacement doesn't seem much worse than a W116/W123. Remove the glove box and a few other panels, there are five screws holding the fan in. One is inaccessable and most people advise breaking that tab off. To get at it you have to remove about half the dash. But there was one video that showed how to unbolt another part, then you can wedge the fan housing over enough to get at the last screw.
