Re: [MBZ] OT pressure washing from rain barrels?
I think most pressure washers advertise how many gallons per minute they put out. In should equal out so you will need some manner of delivering 2 or 3 gallons per minute or whatever the rate is to the intake side. Don't know whether that can be accomplished by gravity if the tank is high enough or if you need some sort of pump in line on the intake side of the pressure washer. I am sort of wondering about something similar. I want to take the pressure washer out to the lake this spring. The water at the lake is pumped out of the lake and up a hill to the cottage. Pressure at the pump is 50# or more but not up at the cottage. I am wondering if the amount of water available will be sufficient for the pressure washer. I have been wondering about whether I might need to have a resevoir of some sort (a barrel) at the cottage end and a second pump to bring the pressure back up to something more usable. Also wonder about running a larger hose from the pump up to the cottage. Volume may be more of an issue than pressure. Time will tell. In other words, he pump is non-priming. I am pretty sure my 6.5 HP pressure washer requires some input pressure on the supply side - I don't think it's intended to be able to "suck" from a water supply - the pump is only intended to boost pressure to a certain level. Re: [MBZ] OT pressure washing from rain barrels?
As I suugested before, this type of pump will not self prime. Run it dry while trying, even a short time and you will ruin the seals. Put the water source higher so it will gravity feed. Re: [MBZ] OT pressure washing from rain barrels?
Great Idea, I doubt if that pump would self prime. Put the barrels up about 3 feet and they would gravity feed enough, pressure washing does not use too much water.
