Re: [MBZ] OT shoes and repair - wristwatches?
I've always wondered why an odd number of jewels - aren't they used as bearings? If so, isn't there one on each end of a shaft? Where does the odd one go? Isn't there a pallet or three in the escapement? -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

My favorites are the 21 jewel watches by Bulova (Swiss made) and Elgin from the 40's and 50's. I have a couple that can keep time to a second a day when worn, very nice watches indeed. Snap back cases, though, so NO water -- in fact, no sweat, either -- so they are dress only, but very nice. Especially when I can get a gold filled sterling silver cased one for $12 on Ebay that only needs a new mainspring and a cleaning to run like new. [MBZ] OT shoes and repair - wristwatches?
How about wristwatches for quality items? Richarde used to have a watch email list at mbz.org - that was a fun time. I grew to like the european stuff, primarily mechanical movements mostly vintage. How about this wristwatch for nice german mechanical craftmanship - EZM-1: http://members.chello.nl/~h.mennink/watches/_private/SinnEZM1.htm http://www.broadarrow.net/ezm1.htm The swiss, of course, are the movement makers of renown, although, there are good russian and chinese mechanical movements also. I like this vintage french aviator wristwatch: http://www.qahill.com/tz/type20/type20.html The Type 20/21 chronograph movement is true flyback - retour en vol. It requires one press to reset and restart the timing of the aviation leg. Not many watches have that. The panel clock by Mathey-Tissot Type 12 is also true flyback. Ok - that is a beginning. I bet we can drag this out like the shoes or bread thread. Begin the fun. mao ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
