One time when I got tires I got talking to the tire monkey and he forgot to torque all the tires. It was fine for a couple days but Angie and I were going somewhere, she was driving and one wheel must have gotten loose. It sounded and felt to me like somebody was beating one of the wheels with a sledge. I could see the steering wheel twitching half an inch back and forth. "Whats that noise?" I asked. "What noise?" she replied. First, they are bolts, not nuts. Second, if you would drill and safety wire them, it would be obvious at a glance that they were loose from the lack of twisted safety wire. Yep. My previous way for decades I do one wheel, it hits the ground and tightened fully before even moving to the next one. I have up to this point need to get in the habit of checking them all once it hits the ground. There have been plenty of times I have done it but have forgotten 3 times. 2 times the vehicles left the driveway. Just the other day I pulled the E300 back over to the driveway and when I got out it dawned I me I forgot it and caught myself.
