Might have more to do with costs I would think. The made in EU part has a higher manufacturing and shipping cost to third world areas, so make the part in the closer third world area to the same spec, and sell it on for a more reasonable cost. No need to load up containers on large ships to putter along the seas for ages to get a part to the guy in the bush with a busted down taxi. I am not sure WTF frod was thinking shutting down auto lines in AUS, but it may involve heads, rectums, and being trapped up one. Sure maybe the new Behrs are not as good as the old ones but only time will tell but I do know it fits perfectly and works perfectly. I have seen people post pictures of things like filters, which looked identical except for the MB logo and of course the price for that logo was a bit more. The chip maker deal! Make the chips all the same, then test them to see if you get the one that blows up at high temp, or kacks at mid temp, then sell it on as the low power chip instead. Make the chips all the same, then test them ... you get a dual core i-3 instead of i-7 when there are only two working out of twelve Absolutely, and not a thing wrong with that. That's exactly how I'd design things to maximize production efficiency. Re: [MBZ] Response from Trent -- Worldpac problems?
Nah. We're on 10 hour days starting this week for the summer with Fridays off. I had a School Board meeting last night that was absolutely a nightmare and didn't want to end, then on top of all that TECO, our local electric utility, dropped a phase coming into our building about 7:15 pm. It knocked our voting system offline along with our audio broadcast feed, which we quickly fixed. However, we have a UPS in the data center that our director as been hedging on battery replacement due to simple procrastination complicated by the inability to get any funds after the middle of May (government agency, fiscal year ends June 30, all unencumbered funds get frozen in mid May.) As a result of the bump, one of our esx hosts got knocked off as did an IBM midrange (P570) that hosts a number of production machines. Add to this one of the EVAs going offline as well. Needless to say I spent the remainder of the evening in the data center bringing up production servers and fixing the EVA. Oh - almost forgot - payroll was in production so everything had to be validated to make sure payroll wasn't screwed up. Got home, ate a leftover sub from Firehouse, passed out on the bed. Woke up about 4:45 this morning still dressed. Ugh. Dan Sent from my iPad On Jun 12, 2013, at 10:54 AM, Dieselhead 126die...@gmail.com wrote: Yesterday was an ugly day. 14 hours at the office. Ugh. They would not wear out but the rubber was so hard that I had no traction in winter. I was stuck on a flat parking lot one day as it was icy. Could not go forward or backward. Generally they don't, main difference is a MB logo and different part # on the part. For instance ATE don't sell good stuff to MB and then have a different factory pushing out blocks of wood. Re: [MBZ] Response from Trent -- Worldpac problems?
I have no evidence either way but stuff made in the EU has to be to a standard. Am trying to think of a case where this may be so, considering that a lot of cost is in the actual development of the part, OK lets take Behr radiators, the one I bought recently for my TE was made in South Africa, now sure they may have a factory there to make second rate radiators and have a factory in Germany that makes the good stuff for MB with MB logo and part # Or it could be that they only make that particular radiator in SA now, I can' see the economic sense to have two lines making the same part. Sure maybe the new Behrs are not as good as the old ones but only time will tell but I do know it fits perfectly and works perfectly. I have seen people post pictures of things like filters, which looked identical except for the MB logo and of course the price for that logo was a bit more. Anyway I am having a good result with my ATE ceramic pads, lot cleaner. No, OEM means it's coming from a manufacturer that makes the parts for MB. WorldPac may be distributor. OEM parts will not have the Star on the box, but it should be the same part inside. Re: [MBZ] Response from Trent -- Worldpac problems?
Not always. It may state Original Equipment Manufacturer show a picture of the MB part on a Worldpac parts site BUT.Bosch does not always = the Bosch part spec'd for your MB. For instance, I can get aftermarket Bosch wiper blades at the local auto parts store...if I'm ordering online I want the original MB part. There IS a difference between the two! The MB spec'd blade of course being of better quality, has better fitment look. Unless your parts suppler is ordering direct from Mercedes, there is a chance you won't be getting what your expecting at times. I ended up having to order another blade washer nozzle from MB to finally get the right ones for the early W201 I had. Of course many OEM parts in other situations are fine, belts, hoses, filters ect.with some MB dealers now offering online parts ordering with info sourced from the EPC, not sure I'd bother with Worldpac or anyone else when I have another MB that I need parts for On 6/11/2013 7:07 PM, Dan Penoff wrote: OEM implies that it's coming from MB, I would assume.
