Right on, I'm hoping it will run well. We keep floating between 9 and 10.
It's good enough, this year's date turned out to be bad for several, despite
how hard I tried to coordinate with people's plans. We had a few
"out-of-state" folks thinking about it, but...

There will be some good photos to entice folks next year on the website
eventually.

Hope to see you next year! (There may be the "hard" rally in the fall ;)

Spring, summer, late winter - we've got it all here in SE Minnesota. One
thing I've learned about this area is that there is no "average"
temperature, or condition. We've been uncomfortably hot over a month ago,
and now we're into the mid 30s at night, and 40s for a high. Small rant on
the crazy weather around here, I guess.

Thanks for your comments.

The issues are a little seperate, however.

The fact only a maybe a dozen or so come to these events as they are
restricted to the one model, is indeed currently quaint charm. That's fine.
If it grows into the national W123 attraction of my dreams, it'll be fun
to watch it gain acceptance over the coming decades.

I really don't mean to come off complaining about the return rate, but
understand those are of only W123 owners who specifically requested the
memebership info. Based on the positive correspondance, I thought it might
be closer to 25%. Consideration is of course given that it is a
free-per-simple-request promotion giveaway and not everyone will respond
further. The feed back recieved has been very positive, if limited.
Perhaps the literature is not extensive enough or too intense for folks
based on their taste, I usually don't hear that, perhaps out of courtesy
which I can respect, but a little criticism is good. Often I have it worked
out and can explain why I do something a certain way. Regardless I will
continue to build and enhance the membership however I am able to make it
more attractive. One should WANT to join a club, or better yet, "not miss
out on it"It's a recreational back burner issue I understand. Some join
years later, it'll be fine.

The point of my Club is supreme enhancement of the model for the benefit of
the owner. There is no way I would want to compete against the other
solidly founded MB club instituions. I participate in some of those too.
My tiny sect is merely a special haven for my obsession. The extreme focus
gives me pleasure and I believe will allow me to encompass the car
completely. With all the details I want to know about one type of car,
learning much about other cars cannot be afforded.

Your reply level is low because you restrict events/membership to 123 cars.

Hello folks

The last membership promotion I mentioned was rather anti-climatic,
about

5% return. I did get some requests from members of this list though, so
thank you very much all who asked for info.

[MBZ] Shamless plug for Club 123D spring "rally"

2006-05-13 Thread V Layton

Hello folks

I thought I'd mention (in case you hadn't heard) that Club 123D's 3rd annual
Spring driving event is coming up Sunday May 21st. I'm sorry for the short
notice, but thought some of you might like to know. Spring has sprung here
and I'm pretty much booked for repairs until the last week in May. I spend
my "evening recreation" updating the website and corresponding. Club
membership registries are up to 59 nationwide, which is pretty good I think.
The last membership promotion I mentioned was rather anti-climatic, about
5% return. I did get some requests from members of this list though, so
thank you very much all who asked for info.

BACK TO THE EVENT

It's a rather mellow, 120 mile non-racing event that isn't any real special
challenge, just a formal excuse to drive your W123 with other W123 folks.
There are competative scoring factors. It is all within a 100-mile radius
of St. Louis and only about 10 hours long, from the provided continental
breakfast to the paticipant-funded dinner (under $20-$25 per entree) So
far 10 are registered, ALL w123s of course. The 3rd time for this young
autoclub tradition, I'm pleased it continues and grows. You do not have to
be Club 123D member to participate. (But you might as well be) If Sunday is
a problem, next year it will be Saturday. (I have been tring to alternate
them)

See the Events at www.club123d.org for information and photos of the past
two events as well as plenty of information on the details of this year's
event.

So W123 owners, there is a formally coordinated W123 drving activity in St.
Louis (or two) and you are invited!

You can also e-mail me personally if you have any questions.

Thank you very much for reading
