[MBZ] Sick Garmin Nüvi 750
During our trip, I had programmed our Garmin GPS receiver with the location of my uncle's house. We were on the way there when the receiver locked up. I found that if I restarted it, it would run for about 30 seconds and then lock up again. I was able to get it to tell me, Go on such-an-such to that street. I went to that street, restarted it, and it told me, Turn left and go X miles to such-and-such street. Doing that over and over, I was able to get to my destination. Unfortunately, this process is real pain, and 30 seconds is not enough time to program a new destination. When it's connected to the window mount and powered from the car, it locks up with the screen lit up. When it's running on its own battery, it shuts down. Any hints on fixing this? I searched for reset Garmin Nuvi and got several hits, some wrong, some right. http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to-reset-garmin-nuvi-gps-device-access-maintenance-mode/ says, Turn off Garmin device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen, and then power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press “Yes” to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode. Trick above works on Garmin nuvi 200, 250, 360 750, 760 series unit. In fact, there is a video demo by user of Garmin Nuvi 360 on how to perform the hidden reset function. I did the erasing of user data (it did not ask about maintenance mode) and it runs properly now.
