KILMA ? -Original Message- From: harry watkins harry...@bellsouth.net Date: Tue, 6 Apr 2010 18:43:19 To: Mercedes Discussion Listmercedes@okiebenz.com Subject: [MBZ] What happened? Just a coincidence? 86 300 SDL, just got off I-20 after 80 mile trip. I needed to change lanes and at about 30 MPH I mashed down to engage the kick down switch. I immediately lost the A/C and blower, the heater seemed to be wide open. The kick down worked and nothing else changed. Stopping and restarting the engine did not reset it, I had heard that is required some times. Any ideas? KILMA ? No. That shouldn't affect the blower or heat regulation. -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] What happened? Just a coincidence?
You guys were right as usual. #5 fuse blew and it covers about 14 items and especially my problems, A/C, blower and full heat. New fuse got it going and when I repeated what caused it, the kick down switch, it also repeated blowing the fuse . Now to follow Jim's suggestion and find the short. The kickdown solenoid is shorted, or the wiring to it is, and when you powered it the fuse blew, said fuse being shared by these other components? The belt slipped, and the KLIMA relay did what it's supposed to? Don't have any idea how to reset it, unless it's replacing the belt and verifying that the compressor still turns freely. Full heat, no AC and no blower is a blown fuse for the climate control. If it blows again, check the current draw to the AC clutch coil.
