Well I disagree to an extent, if you are gonna pump money into a 109 you
really want the M116 3.5L engine. MB produced this engine for a long
time and it should be easy enough to get a hold of one, if needed.
Given the state of the car and the engine in it, I would walk away,
unless you got it for 500.

Air suspension is air suspension, but its a W109 and W112. Parts are not
horrible in price, and once its done, its fixed for a long time.

If the car falls overnight, thats pretty bad.

I went to see it. Have several photos. have to figure out how to get them in
a place where they can be seen.
It's a 68 300sel. Dude says he's had it since 98 when he bought it from a
body shop in Scottsdale (left front fender whacked he said...and rust repair
made in front of drivers door). He said a vet brought it home from
Deustchland it 1970. Although the battery was dead, he claims itstarts right
up and it pumps up from the squat in 4 minutes. He claims that, when left
overnight, the backend squats and, after two nights sitting, the frontend
squats. Says it drives just fine. No belt on the AC compressor, also,
couldn't find the VIN plate (unless they aren't in the familiar place on
these).

Having never looked at these before, I have no reference point.

My response from BANNED:

Wow, Velour! Now that's super cool. That's a /8 model, a face lift of
sorts for the original W108/9 that started in 1968.

I don't see the air compressor/PS pump on the engine. Not sure if its
mounted on the M130 in the same place as the M189, certainly could be down
lower.

It would be interesting to see if it really runs and drives ok. The rust
repair is a scary thing, and it looks to be overall in sad shape, but still
could be a worthwhile car.
