Dogs wandering around is heavily frowned upon in california. Almost everywhere,
if you call animal control after you capture an animal, they'll bang on the

They dont do anything in the country here. If you live the city you can
call the animal control and they are supposed to come out and get it.
You CANT however take a dog yourself down there, they wont take it. IF
you live out in the country like I do(yet I still have to hassle with
the planning commission) they wont do anything. YOu can call them and
tell them you are bringing a dog in and they wont take it. Call the
sherriffs office and they say they wont do anything either. They say to
just shoot it. And this with a state wide leash law for dogs.

240D cranked a little slow when I was going home from work yesterday. No
problem, I told myself, just slap on the battery charger overnight.

When I got home, parked the car outside intending to put it in the garage
(and attach the battery charger) after supper. Got involved in a three
hour

household project and forgot all about the car.

Walked out of the house and into the garage at 7:30 this morning. Hey,
where's my car? Oooops, it was outside in mid-teen temps with a non-100%
battery. Glow plug light didn't come on, either (a common problem when the
car is really cold).

So ... before walking to my office (just a few blocks) I hooked up the
battery charger!

Note to self -- put the car in the garage immediately after arriving at
the

house, especially in the winter.

has no rights of its own (well, animals don't actually have rights -
technically what has occurred is you have forfeited your right to have your

Granted, legally the trespassee probably can't do much, but then again
legally you can't do much when there's a robber in your house, either - even
places that do have make my day laws usually really restrict their
applicability (which is sad, blatant bs). But, the main point is,
responsible pet owners keep their animals under control and don't let them
wander on people's cars or whatnot - and they shouldn't be upset when others
are annoyed by this kind of irresponsibility, and express that annoyance in

In my less-civilized days, I went out and purchased a couple cans of tuna

They dont do anything in the country here. If you live the city you can
call the animal control and they are supposed to come out and get it.
You CANT however take a dog yourself down there, they wont take it. IF
you live out in the country like I do(yet I still have to hassle with
the planning commission) they wont do anything. YOu can call them and
tell them you are bringing a dog in and they wont take it. Call the
sherriffs office and they say they wont do anything either. They say to
just shoot it. And this with a state wide leash law for dogs.

always Feel it with Dezel. Man, she was so bent on making sure we knew

That job actually was my first exposure to Mercedes diesels. We used to call
them rabid mobies only because of the foamy nature of diesel. And we could
always hear them coming before we saw them, owing to what I now know as the
klatta klatta. They almost invariably came into full serve. Didn't get too
nervous around these luxury autos after a while. I remember some unfortunate
new employee, however, who left the nozzle in a guy's Jaguar, allowing him

problem, I told myself, just slap on the battery charger overnight.

When I got home, parked the car outside intending to put it in the garage
(and attach the battery charger) after supper. Got involved in a three hour
household project and forgot all about the car.

Note to self -- put the car in the garage immediately after arriving at the
house, especially in the winter.

Easy fix, just slather the car with lard right before you go to bed. That
or you could give the whole thing a bath in that 'essence of Bengal tiger
urine' they sell as cat repellant. Either way you wouldn't be bothered by
cat prints - probably because you wouldn't go near the car.

Yeah, the same can be said for your dogs. Kill them too. Hell, why not
feed all pets poison if they annoy you. Antifireeze doesn't just kill
small animals, it tortures them to death slowly over several days, as
they die of blood poisoning due to failed kidneys. Been there, done
that, had to watch a beloved pet die - in extreme pain - in my wife's
arms due to this. If you're going to be a raging asshole, just take a
gun and shoot the animal and kill it quickly. OK? Or at least keep
your disgusting sadistic torture tricks to yourself - we don't need to

240D cranked a little slow when I was going home from work yesterday. No
problem, I told myself, just slap on the battery charger overnight.

When I got home, parked the car outside intending to put it in the garage
(and attach the battery charger) after supper. Got involved in a three hour
household project and forgot all about the car.

Note to self -- put the car in the garage immediately after arriving at the
house, especially in the winter.

Easy fix, just slather the car with lard right before you go to bed.
That
or you could give the whole thing a bath in that 'essence of Bengal
tiger
urine' they sell as cat repellant. Either way you wouldn't be
bothered by

cat prints - probably because you wouldn't go near the car.

A bucket of rancid yak fat will work, too, and it's a great conversation
starter. Just the thing to cover your datemobile with.

Up here, guys can actually see the
distinction between a female family member and a potential love interest.

HA!
Don't worry though...if they get married and it doesn't work out and they
get a divorce they still are brother and sister.
I worked with a guy at the old nuke plant who had an uncle that married his
cousin...and then had a kid with his own much younger sister. I reckon it's
just a very loving state.

Re: [MBZ] mistakes a diesel owner should not make

2006-01-18 Thread Dave M.
I'm all for jokes, but there are a lot of people who actually DO
demented stuff like this, not just joke about it - which is why I
don't find it humorous. I also thing a lot of people don't realize
what a slow, excruciatlingly painful death it causes (takes several
days). It's not like it makes them peacefully go to sleep one night
and never wake up. Maybe I'm a little more touchy about it because
I've had direct personal experience with the effects of antifreeze on
an animal. Sorry if I flew off the handle. Now back to our regularly
scheduled discussions on Mobil-1 and frequent fuse replacements.

Not your fault - I started this one with my CO2 powered pellet gun

At least I didn't start this one with a poison cat food comment

On a more serious cat note - they are so prevalent around here that the city

animal shelter to adopt cats. Wonder what happens to THOSE cats?? Maybe
the member who reacted so strongly would like a few hundred shipped to his

My family has always had a designated cat gun with which to dispatch cats.
It'd get used when we had a nuisence cat, like the stray that wouldn't come in
and live inside but liked to poop on my Dad's car or when a cat is sick and
dying and needs putting out of its misery. Very humane thing the cat gun. I
used it once on a dog that got hit by a car in front of our house, thing was in
such terrible shape I don't know what was keeping it alive but I couldn't bear
to see it like that.

I was amazed when I went to college and somehow got talking about the cat gun
and a girl I went to school with was screaming at me and calling me all sorts
of terrible things for shooting cats, she thought they should be put to
sleep. I told her thats what I was doing. Some people's kids...

I will be flying out to Tampa this Friday for my Rendezvous with my new
car. The seller is meeting me at the airport. He will have title in
hand and I will have check to present to him. Here's is my question.
Where is the fuel filter on a M103? Is it as easy to change as on the
diesels - i.e. spin on? The spark plugs are probably fairly accessible
given the fact that it is a straight six. Any weird maintenance quirks
I need to know about the M103 or the 126? Things like coolant flushes,
power steering fluid changes, transmission fluid changes, and brakes
will be fairly standard, so I won't have to (get to) learn anything new
about that. I just thought about it, I have no idea where the oil
filter is? Is it as much of a pain as on the 123/124 diesels? Any
 thoughts would be great?

We have two adorable black Bombay kittens (minipanthers), both of whom love
to jump up on the kitchen counter. We keep a water squirter handy as a
deterrent. It's cost-effective (cheap), humane, and highly effective. You
should see the look on the cat's face when we merely threaten him with the
water bottle. BTW, I should add that they both drink from a Drinkwell Pet
Fountain (highly recommended) and love to play in the sink while I am
brushing my teeth. Therefore, there have been NO traumatic side effects
from the regular jolts of H2O.

Well, let's look at this philosophically. If someone cares for their pets,
perhaps they should not allow their pets to trespass on others' property.
Once your pet is on my property against my will, it is violating my rights
(just as if you trespass on my property you are violating same rights), and
has no rights of its own (well, animals don't actually have rights -
technically what has occurred is you have forfeited your right to have your
animal as your unharmed property) - so I can (morally speaking, not
practically, see next paragraph) do to it what I want - let it roam,
forcibly remove it, or end the problem in other ways.

Granted, legally the trespassee probably can't do much, but then again
legally you can't do much when there's a robber in your house, either - even
places that do have make my day laws usually really restrict their
applicability (which is sad, blatant bs). But, the main point is,
responsible pet owners keep their animals under control and don't let them
wander on people's cars or whatnot - and they shouldn't be upset when others
are annoyed by this kind of irresponsibility, and express that annoyance in
allegedly inappropriate ways.

I don't have to worry about the cold...although it did get to 31 degrees
last night (and she started right up...).
What spins me up is the stupid neighbor's cat. I hate to have paw prints on
my car.

240D cranked a little slow when I was going home from work yesterday. No
problem, I told myself, just slap on the battery charger overnight.

When I got home, parked the car outside intending to put it in the
garage

(and attach the battery charger) after supper. Got involved in a three
 hour
household project and forgot all about the car.

Walked out of the house and into the garage at 7:30 this morning. Hey,
where's my car? Oooops, it was outside in mid-teen temps with a
non-100%
battery. Glow plug light didn't come on, either (a common problem when
the

 car is really cold).

So ... before walking to my office (just a few blocks) I hooked up the
 battery charger!

Note to self -- put the car in the garage immediately after arriving at
 the
 house, especially in the winter.

For the record I dont see ANYTHING wrong with plunking a BB at a
cat/dog/whatever that is doing something its not supposed to. It will
not kill said animal but will shock them into thinking twice. Now if
you load up a pellet instead and pump that sucker up quite a bit, you
could get a lethal shot I suppose, but not with a low powered bb. Its
better than having to all out shoot to kill the thing.

On a more serious cat note - they are so prevalent around here that the city
puts out baited traps all the time and I don't see anyone lining up at the
animal shelter to adopt cats. Wonder what happens to THOSE cats?? Maybe
the member who reacted so strongly would like a few hundred shipped to his
or her house?

That was very Banned-like. I should have seen it coming when I mentioned the
cat walking on my car.

If nothing else, we have been treated to a small taste of what it is
like
to subscribe to Banned. Banned is the same thing, only different.

some people just dont understand I suppose.

My family has always had a designated cat gun with which to dispatch cats.
It'd get used when we had a nuisence cat, like the stray that wouldn't come in and live

putting out of its misery. Very humane thing the cat gun. I used it once on a dog that
got hit by a car in front of our house, thing was in such terrible shape I don't know
what was keeping it alive but I couldn't bear to see it like that.

I was amazed when I went to college and somehow got talking about the cat gun and a girl I went to school with was screaming at me and calling me all sorts of terrible things for shooting cats, she thought they should be put to sleep. I told her thats what I was doing. Some people's kids...
