[MBZ] nozzle observation

2007-02-20 Thread Glenn Brown

I've seen yellow, orange, and black coverings on diesel fuel handles. Even
though I inform the attendants at the BP deli-mart that I'd like to put X$
on the diesel pump, I still have to give them a pump number even though
they've only got one. What a place/time!

Hi Peter - I share your pain. I was having the rear window replaced due
 to
a crack, and constant water problems in the trunk. When they removed the
rear window they could not install a new one as the rust was just to
extensive. I took it to a body shop I know [$37.50 / hour] and had the
entire rusty areas cut out and new pieces created to replace them. They
cut @3/4 metal strips and formed the lower window flange and then bonded
the pieces together to create as pretty accurate rendition of the
 origional.
Most of the part that holds the bottom of the window in had to be
 replaced.
That it took the wondow folks 4 hours to install the rear window suggests
that looks can be deceiving, but the result was good. I had a few other
items done at the same time, but the whole window part of the project was
less than $500 [I think - I've slept since then]. That effectively
 removed
the only rust on my car, so I think it was worth it. I was surprised the
rust was so bad, and so completely removed. I've had a mostly dry trunk
since then, though I think I still have a small leak around the trunk seal
somewhere. Never been a problem, though. Good luck with it. I think the
biggest factor is having a body shop you know you can trust. That I have a
good, honest mechanic to take the car to [my nephew] and an honest and
capable body shop make life here in Jacksonville much nicer.
