Uh oh... Gets roughly *27 mpg*. Power windows, *leathers*. Automatic. Paint is faded. Runs nice *once it finally warms up*, doesn't like these cold mornings. Does have electric block warmer. *Driver seat is ripped* Sounds like another artful liar has moved into town. Re: [MBZ] possible good deal on a california 300D
27 MPG is not far from reality for a OM617. At least he's not claiming 45 like some folks do. Hard starting could just be glow plugs or a long-overdue valve adjustment. It could be a POS, but it could be a good driver-in-the-rough too. Allan On Fri, 11 Dec 2009 15:28 -0500, andrew strasfogel astrasfo...@gmail.com wrote: Uh oh... Gets roughly *27 mpg*. when i see an ad like that that doesn't mention mileage, i always figure it's already approaching 300K miles and is going to be a money pit to keep running,... what was that saying about nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes? ;-) cheers! e andrew strasfogel wrote: Uh oh... A well maintained 300K 123 diesel shouldn't be a money pit. no argument there,... key phrases being well maintained and shouldn't. given the rest of his/her ad, i'm skeptical that this qualifies on the first key phrase. ;-) cheers! e Dimitri Seretakis wrote: A well maintained 300K 123 diesel shouldn't be a money pit. Re: [MBZ] possible good deal on a california 300D
Long stretches at 55mph to get that though right? A friend has an '80 300SD. He's getting laid off in April and wonders what to do with the car which needs a glow plug relay but has a good body and interior. I need to get rid of 1 or two of my cars before I could consider it but my wife has made it plain she'd like the 300SD. We had it one weekend, what a delightful car to drive. -Curt Date: Fri, 11 Dec 2009 16:20:40 -0500 From: Mitch Haley m...@voyager.net Subject: Re: [MBZ] possible good deal on a california 300D To: Mercedes Discussion List mercedes@okiebenz.com Message-ID: 4b22b7a8.7070...@voyager.net Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Allan Streib wrote: 27 MPG is not far from reality for a OM617. I dunno, my $400 240D hasn't been a money pit I mean its a beater in ever sense of the word. If I were trying to bring it up to perfect condition it'd be very spendy but to use as cheap transportation... I've got maybe $1500 in it right now and I've put over 9,000 miles on it in the last year with very little hassle. Thats like sixteen cents a mile and declining. -Curt Date: Fri, 11 Dec 2009 17:36:03 -0800 (PST) From: Dimitri Seretakis dsereta...@yahoo.com Subject: Re: [MBZ] possible good deal on a california 300D To: Mercedes Discussion List mercedes@okiebenz.com Message-ID: 403177.49230...@web113212.mail.gq1.yahoo.com Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Yes, for $750 it will be a money pit.
