I have been storing antique cars for many winters & never heard that. I
change oil in my CD when I fire it up in the spring.

I would agree.

Get it good and hot, park it where it’s going to be, then start the “pickling” 
process of taping off or blocking openings, things like that.

I wrote a few long term storage procedures in a previous career, but that’s 
something that’s really limited to a piece of equipment you’re putting into 
storage for years, not months.

I'd just be sure to get the oil up to temp for 20-30 minutes before parking
it for the winter, it should be fine then.

Maybe to reduce any water content to a minimum? Though to be honest I've never 
heard of this recommendation. I don't think any particular prep is needed for 
storing a diesel for a few months over the winter other than a full fuel tank 
to avoid algae growth and maybe a battery tender to keep the battery charged 
(or just pull the ground strap to avoid any parasitic drains such as clock, 
radio, etc.)

car for the winter months.  This oil has only less than 1000 miles on it,
seems a  waste of oil to do so.
