We've got a ton of white birch that naturally seeded onto a field at camp,
probably 5-6 acres of 'em. They're getting to the 6-8" diameter stage and I've
started cutting them for firewood. They grow in groups of 3 or 4 so I've
started taking one out of each group.
IIRC birch is 100:1 sap to syrup while maple is 50:1 or so. Also IIRC birch has
a lighter flavor, I know I've had it but I can't remember where.

One of the reasons the epidemiologists are worried is that this virus
spreads over twice as fast as the "common"flu and colds. I read that the
"common" flu is spread to 1.2 persons per infected individual. This virus
is spreading at 2.5 persons per infected individual - thus a much faster
and wider spread. My numbers are from memory - probably off a bit, but the
relationship is close.

Just nature's way of dealing with over population

This virus spreads as easily as the flu, I think, or a common cold. Gonna be a
huge problem since we slept through the initial latency period pretending it
wasn't gonna be bad.

What can I say, epidemiologist have been trying to persuade politiciians for at
least 30 years that we are due for a big epidemic, either a nasty flu (ten
years overdue on that one) or a novel thing like the corona virus.

Three percent death rate and say 10% severe enough to require hospitalization
is gonna be a HUGE problem -- 10 million extra patients will flatten our health
care system, to say nothing of the fact that nearly all our medical supplies
now come from a country that can only prevent a health care disaster by
shutting down whole cities.

I guess we will "discover" global warming when south florida ends 50 miles
south of Orlando.

We got a note yesterday that we weren't to go anywhere "non-essential". I'm
not sure if my trip to Las Vegas in April is essential or not. I've got 22
people signed up for a class and then I'm supposed to give a talk at an event.
$60k in that class alone...

Insco will probably call it an "act of God" unless you can prove it was
manufactured and released by the chicoms.

probably, if you send a message to them with a copy of or URL for the
reference information; and then they tell you to go there anyway.   Read
your contract.  Depends on what their contract says.

Insco will probably call it an "act of God" unless you can prove it was
manufactured and released by the chicoms.

They are basically saying don't get on a plane, don't go to San
Francisco.  Monday I will be on a plane to San Francisco.  If I get
the beer virus, would that be a workers comp claim?
