I'm wondering if that car has a disposable wiring harness that has degraded.
Haven't researched that for my '95 wagon yet.

Re: [MBZ] $600E320 almost strands me

2020-02-01 Thread Floyd Thursby via Mercedes

99.

I went out and put the wifi OBD reader on it.  Had some code for
secondary air injection system which I cleared.  Car started fine and
ran ok, threw no codes, all the parameters it could see while running
looked fine.  I'm guessing there is some loose connector somewhere,
maybe got wet in the rain, I jiggled everything again, nothing seemed
particularly amiss.

I put the fancy computer on it, it will not talk to the car through the
OBD port, it has the round 35 (or whatever) pin connector so I plugged
that in, DAS read all the systems and showed some faults in ME2-SFI
(Motor Electonics 2) but when I tried to drill down it started HHTWIN
which crashes on this computer after I try to read stuff.  I think the
software is bad, I need to talk to the Chinee and see if I can get that
sorted.

But the car is running OK and nothing seems to be amiss, it occasionally
runs rough at idle, might die when I first start it cold, but that is at
low rpm and smooths out at higher RPM and won't die if I immediately
give it some gas.  So I don't know at this point exactly what it might
be as the S/W won't read it. Bah.

Yesterday I drove the car, started twice, no issues.  I get home, jump

Jiggled wires around again, still no starties...  Not sure what the

Where is the CPS?  I see where this is a common issue, maybe I should

OK so I went out and jiggled the wire to the CPS and the car fired right
up and ran fine.  Maybe the sensor is going bad or the wiring/connector
are lose or something.  I guess I'll order another one, only $25, and
replace it.  Maybe put some dielectric grease in the connector too if
there was some water in there from the other evening.

On another accomplishment, I added a bit of oil to the SL and checked
the coolant, the light had been blinking on occasionally. It did not
look low but I guess I will add some tomorrow.  I also fixed a hood
latch which had not been catching well and being a PIMA, turned out the
little catch that holds the main catch in closed position was all
goobered up and would not close to catch the catch.  So some spray lube
and working it a bit got that back in order.  Sprayed the other one too,
all looks to be in ordnung now.
