No, I think he bought it for under $1k and sold it about a year later for about $1k. Worse than Snook, it is rare for him to keep a nice car for more than a couple years. I can just barely remember that car. When I was I high school and starting to become car-aware, we looked up its book value, which back then was over $15k. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '87 300TD '95 E300 On September 12, 2015 12:24:48 PM EDT, Mountain Man via Mercedes wrote: >Max wrote: >> My father wanted to drive his really nice Adenauer. > >Nice car!! >Does your family still have that car? >Brooklyn, WI has the best known Adenauer restoration place in the >world, Brooklyn Motoren Werkes - beautiful place, Albrecht Stachel. >mao > ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Sure hope you didn't run into any Hodags or Igarots, passing so close to Rhinelander... You mention some places I haven't been since my youth, I'm sure the roads are better now. Once in the '70s, we set out for summer vacation, probably going to drive from Ogema WI to northern MN to visit grandparents. My father wanted to drive his really nice Adenauer. We got a few miles down Highway 86, and hit some nasty road construction; the pavement was gone and all traffic was squeezed onto rough loose gravel. My dad listened to that gravel beating the underside of the car for about 5 seconds, stopped and did a U-turn, got in a cursing match with the road crew for driving in their road bed during the turn, and went straight back home. We unpacked the Benz and loaded into some beater American iron, and took that instead. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '87 300TD Definitely encountered hodags. Went right through downtown Rhinelander both ways. Got chased by some hodags while I chased others. It was potatofest in Rhinelander. Huge white tent pitched by Trigs. We don't take the bypass. Under $2 here in the Lowcountry. I was going to hit Costco this evening but didn't make it. It was in $1.80 last week, might be lower than that now. --R On 9/10/15 5:30 PM, Curly McLain via Mercedes wrote: Last weekend, there was a price inversion from normal. In Eagle River prices are generally 10 to 20¢ higher than Wausau, benzin was 2.35. I checked it out on gasbuddy before the trip, so i got Benzin at St Paul and Eagle River on the way up, and st paul on the way back. Clear lake had a Pilot station at 2.25 on Monday, so that was good. TUesday, I saw an unattended coop (ethanol plant) selling Benzin at 2.05. Yesterdayi saw price on one side of the street at 2.39 and across the street, 2.25. They are desperately trying to gouge us until someone lowers the price, then some of them still hang on to gouge some more. Peak oil, that reminds me, another ridiculous scare-monger theory that reality has dispatched for those impervious to reason. Wait ten or twenty years and there will be a new one to replace AGW or climate change or whatever they call it these days. RUG was $1.849 today, and I see ULSD around $2.299 down to $2.199. I wonder how much lower prices will go, I think this current rapid drop is due to the storage facilities reaching maximum capacity and now the owners have no choice but to sell the produced oil at market prices, and the market is setting a more correct price now. - Max Charleston SC ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
