IIRC the lighter sockets of the W114/W115, like old American iron, are fairly deep when compared to the newer cars like R107+. The lighter socket hardware, like seat belts, are 100% American in origin, but have been drifting. The _power_ sockets, though, I believe retain the original depth. The very best retention is of the plugs that have a molded ridge in the nose that actually is gripped by the lighter socket's thermostatic release clip. Those are few and far between, though. -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

I believe so. I’ll check mine when I have the time. Is it a European thing? My old W115 300D socket is loose on normal plugs as well. I have always assumed that it may be some sort of metric socket rather than what we expect in NA. I think about changing it but haven't needed to do so and thus haven't yet. Randy On 15/06/2022 5:17 PM, mitch--- via Mercedes wrote: How much is a new socket? Mitch.
